Nicole Taylor — a James Beard Award-nominated cookbook author, producer and fourth-generation Athenian — has written the first-ever Juneteenth cookbook titled “Watermelon and Red Birds: A Cookbook for Juneteenth and Black Celebrations.” The book contains over 75 recipes as well as essays, historical information, guides to BIPOC-owned businesses and tips for home cooks. Since October of 2020, Athens Eats Together has provided at least 254,474 meals to Athens residents.

Even more meals were provided through the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia and the ACCA throughout 2020 and into this year.

Did you know that 35 Athens restaurants/bars are committed to eco-friendly and efficient water use?

Since 2013, the ACC water department has run the Certified Blue Program to help restaurants increase their water efficiency.
