Today I won’t be delighting you with sunshine — it’s a rainy day in Protaras!
But don’t worry, it won’t last long. Rain in Cyprus is just as awaited as spring after a long winter.
Short showers nourish the earth, and soon we’ll have a wonderfully green and blooming winter. Oranges and mandarins will be so ripe they’ll start falling straight from the trees.
This is also the time to think about warmer clothes — one T-shirt is no longer enough. Long evenings on the terrace or in the garden are best enjoyed with a cozy blanket over your knees and warm socks on your feet.
The paradox is amusing: if you keep moving, you feel warm, but the moment you sit or lie down — you start to feel chilly. If the sun is out, you can easily sunbathe, but once it hides, you may suddenly want to pull on a hoodie.
And yet, winter in Cyprus is usually sunny and beautiful — green meadows and flowers that look like late spring in the mountain villages on the mainland. Citrus trees are everywhere, filling the air with their aroma. The sea in winter is incredibly clear, and even with water at +19°C, you can swim, sunbathe, enjoy picnics with friends, go hiking or take long bike rides.
If you’re thinking about spending some time on the island and enjoying its gentle winter warmth (and definitely its sunshine — we always have plenty of that!), feel free to message me.
