✏️ From Pencils to Print: How Hunters of Sheydim Comes to Life
One of the questions I get most often is: “How does a comic actually get made?”
Right now, we’re deep in the production pipeline for Hunters of Sheydim—and it’s a process that transforms the book step by step. Here’s how we build it:
The Script
It starts with me, Jeff Marvin. Think of it like a screenplay, but broken down by page and panel. I map the action, then layer in dialogue. The hardest part? I’m naturally wordy. Comics force you to balance story with art—you don’t want beautiful artwork buried under word balloons, but you also can’t lose clarity.
The Edit
That’s where my editor, Ori Ayalon, comes in. He trims the fat, fixes clunky dialogue, and makes sure the visuals will land. Then we sit down with Riley Brown, our amazing artist, for a story conference to lock it all in.
Pencils & Inks
This is where it truly comes alive. Riley’s pencils are full of energy—every gesture, shadow, and panel layout lays the foundation for the story’s rhythm.
Colors
Then comes Vinicius Townsend. His work adds mood and atmosphere, giving dimension and weight to every page. His colors don’t just decorate—they pull you in.
Lettering & Design
Next, Dezi Sienty and Sinisa Matic give the book its voice—dialogue, captions, sound effects—all carefully placed to guide the eye and set the pace. Finally, Dezi puts it all together: covers, credits, layouts, and back matter. He’s the one who shapes it into a finished book you can hold.
When every stage is complete, what started as words on a page becomes a full story—layered, textured, alive.
I feel incredibly lucky to work with such a talented team. Soon, you’ll get to see (and hold) the result for yourself.
