A lovely day documenting craft apprenticeships out at Gunsgreen House in Eyemouth on behalf of Scottish Historic Buildings Trust - lovely warm sunshine, great company.

Met up with some old colleagues from previous tourism shoots in the area; ending up capturing some special footage of stones being carved and stained glass window creation…

A quick Thursday update as I’ll be heading to Glencoe tomorrow for a Gleneagles Workshop - looking forward to the weather as it might be pretty good conditions for some atmospheric landscapes, I was amused last night about NASA’s c**k up on the live feed during the launch of Artemis 2 - I’m not the only one that’s noticed!

So I decided against filming myself, what with small technical issues and a long shoot list - my priority was of course to work through the list, but I did shoot some screen shots of the footage which can be seen.

Two highlights come to my attention, first I managed to get some very decent drone footage despite 40mph gusts, don’t worry I know my limits and decided I could manage it. And got some great slow motion atmospheric rugby scenes. All in all it’s been a productive day, not finished yet but I feel happy.

A rare moment of light in the Scottish Borders.

After nearly three weeks of flat grey skies, the snow finally came — and with it, texture, contrast, and life.

This 1-minute film is taken from my latest YouTube video, where I headed out to chase that fleeting winter light and capture a handful of stills from above. No long tutorial. No heavy breakdown. Just the atmosphere, the landscape, and the images.

Sometimes photography isn’t about the technical deep dive.
It’s about responding to the moment when Scotland decides to show off.
