Cannibal Kids
South Florida's indie-rock darlings Cannibal Kids recently released their third album on Shaemax Records. Titled Chiral, referring to a concept of molecule asymmetry in chemistry, the double-sided album expands upon their trademark indie-rock sound through experiments with jazz, alt-rock, and Japanese city pop influences. One side of Chiral focuses on rock, while the other creates a blend of their genre influences. The album's accompanying visual album creates a mosaic of the sounds, images, and emotions that influenced the band's songwriting process. With vocalist/lead guitarist Damien Gutierrez, drummer Luke Faulkingham, bassist Marty Quinn, lead guitarist Bennett Wyler, and keyboardist/trombone player Eli Feingold, Cannibal Kids are already growing up into Cannibal Adults, touring and performing alongside major artists like Young the Giant and Flipturn.

When I visited David back on April 24th I tried to jar his memory which had been destroyed by some early form of dementia...I would sing our songs to him...One right after another...I brought him our first press kit...He rubbed his thumb over the press kit the entire time I was there and when it was time to go I put my hand on the right side of his head and told him "I Love You"...He whispered something unintelligible and that was the last time I saw my cousin alive...
When we were kids David would always remind me when we first met that I gave him the following advice..."Don't trust anyone who doesn't like the Beatles"...He loved that!
David loved Ordinary Language...He would drive around in that red van with drum sticks and listen over and over again...He was Ordinary Language's biggest fan...
David wasn't a flashy drummer...He was a straight ahead drummer who played a lot of 4/4 time...He improved immensely and in 2011 when OL was creating some of it's best material (Unreleased) David was playing better than ever...He didn't get the credit he deserved...
As much as he loved Ordinary Language his real true love was reserved for his son, Jake!! Jake was David's life...
He had great friends...Eric and Ari were lifelong friends who knew him in a way I didn't...I hope to see both of them at a celebration for David's life...
David provided the music at Heat games and even got a couple of rings for being a part of the team!!
David also had a love affair with radio...whether making commercial spots or producing Hank Goldberg's show...He just loved Jim Mandich!! He loved his Dolphins!! We sat together for many years in our season ticket seats where he met Merri, his future wife who happened to sit right in front of us...One thing led to another and the best result for both parents was Jake!!
I'll be listening to some Ordinary Language tonight and remember the best of times...Hold down the fort for me with Mac and Iggy...Until we meet again...
