‎To strengthen students’ preparedness for calamities while ensuring that learning continues during emergencies, Caninguan National High School (CNHS) conducted a disaster preparedness and learning continuity symposium on September 3, 2026, at the school gymnasium.
‎
‎The symposium aimed to equip students with practical knowledge on how to respond to calamities, prioritize safety, and adapt to alternative learning arrangements when face-to-face classes are disrupted.
‎
‎Ma’am Jessa Mae Chiva discussed the “Hayo, Hinay, Hinga, Hinto” approach, emphasizing the importance of staying alert, remaining calm, controlling one’s breathing, and knowing when to stop and prioritize safety during emergencies.
‎
‎She also explained how students can continue their education when calamities make regular classroom instruction unsafe or impossible.
‎
‎“Ang natun-an ko subong amo kung paano mangin aware sa mga kalamidad nga nagakatabo sa palibot kag paano mapabilin nga safe ang tanan,” Jim Craig Larroza said.
‎
‎According to Ma’am Chiva, the learning modality to be implemented will depend on the severity of the calamity. When conditions make face-to-face classes unsafe or impractical, students may shift to modular or online learning to ensure the continuity of education.
‎
‎“Kung mabaskog ang kalamidad kag indi safe ang face-to-face classes, mahimo kami magpadayon sa modular ukon online learning, depende sa sitwasyon,” Jim Craig Larroza added.
‎
‎The symposium reminded students that disaster preparedness goes beyond knowing how to respond during emergencies. It also involves being ready to adapt to alternative learning modalities so that education can continue while safety remains the priority.

‎The 2nd Student Assembly brought together students, teachers, and school leaders on September 2, 2026, at the Caninguan National High School Gymnasium to address school rules, student discipline, and concerns affecting the school community.
‎
‎The gathering provided a venue for discussing student offenses, classroom discipline, school policies, and other concerns raised by learners and school personnel. It also aimed to strengthen communication between students and the school administration while promoting a safer and more responsible learning environment.
‎
‎School rules and regulations were among the major concerns discussed during the assembly, with students reminded of their responsibilities as members of the school community. The discussion focused on the importance of following school policies to maintain order, respect, and discipline among learners.
‎
‎“Always remember, discipline is not just about following rules because we are afraid of punishment. Discipline means knowing what is right and choosing to do what is right. So, let’s work together to make our school a place where everyone feels safe, respected, responsible, and ready to learn.” Mrs. Cherine Mae Lequip Josal said.
‎
‎The discussion then shifted to the second and third types of offenses, as Aillen Jane Lozada Cos explained the different violations and their possible consequences. Students were encouraged to be aware of their actions and understand the importance of accountability inside the school.
‎
‎During the open forum, Aira Nichole Piz raised a concern regarding students who want to report bullying incidents to their teachers, advisers, or the SSLG office but hesitate because they fear possible retaliation from the bullies outside the school gate.
‎
‎“What can the school do to protect students who want to report bullying cases but are afraid that the bullies might wait for them outside the gate?” Aira Nichole Piz asked.
‎
‎The concern was addressed as Dr. Hizzle B. Paguntalan, School Head, assured students that the school is committed to protecting learners who report bullying incidents and that their safety and confidentiality will always be prioritized.
‎
‎“Bullying stops the moment we refuse to stay silent. It takes courage to stand against it, and this school will firmly protect that courage. If you witness or experience bullying, report it immediately to the Office of the School Principal or the Guidance Office. You can do this in person, or privately via email, Messenger, or Viber. Let me be absolutely clear: your identity will be kept strictly confidential. I routinely receive private reports from brave individuals, and we investigate every single one without compromising the reporter. To anyone fearing retaliation: the school will not tolerate it. Any attempt to retaliate against someone who reports bullying will be met with immediate and severe disciplinary action. We have your back. Do not be afraid to stand up for what is right, because when you speak up, this administration will stand as your shield,” said Dr. Paguntalan.

‎The response highlighted the school’s commitment to creating a safe environment where learners feel protected and supported in reporting concerns. The assembly also encouraged students to seek help from trusted teachers, advisers, and school authorities whenever they experience or witness bullying.

‎The program concluded with closing remarks from Juanie and Larrah, SSLG officers, who thanked the students, teachers, and school leaders for their active participation. The event ended with a reminder that discipline, respect, and cooperation are important in creating a safe, united, and supportive school community.

LAMBUNAO, ILOILO — The Municipal Meet 2026 officially opened on August 15, 2026, at the Lambunao Public Plaza, bringing together student-athletes, coaches, officials, and sports enthusiasts from across the municipality.

Guided by the theme, “Leading the Legacy of Sports Excellence Towards Stronger Home of the Champions,” the opening ceremony marked the beginning of a series of sporting competitions where young athletes can showcase their talent, discipline, determination, and sportsmanship.

More than a competition, the Municipal Meet provides a venue for athletes from different schools to build camaraderie, teamwork, respect, and friendships while representing their respective schools with pride.

Beyond medals and victories, the event celebrates the values that sports instill in young people—resilience, responsibility, confidence, and perseverance. Each game becomes an opportunity to learn, grow, and rise to the challenge.

As the competitions continue, the Municipal Meet 2026 shines a spotlight on the passion, dedication, and potential of Lambunao’s young athletes proving that every champion begins with the courage to compete, the discipline to persevere, and the heart to give their best.
