This week I have been rebuilding my work bench, downsizing and improving it at the same time 👌

The old legs got cleaned up and I recut the mortise and tenon joints on the legs to suit the new size 📏

Because there were a lot to do I wrote a quick program for the CNC that made these a breeze, far exceeding the rate at which you could cut all of these by hand which I did the first time around 😌

Today I walked Andrew through the process of bevelling a stem on the CNC ⚙️

We did a roughing operation first, then cut the primary bevel and then the landings for battens and clamps 🪵

The stem then gets flipped and the process is repeated, saving a huge amount of time vs lofting and shaping this by hand 👌

Day 1 of dry fitting the planking and seeing this hull shape come to life 🥰

A common misconception is that epoxy bonding screws makes them impossible to remove 🤔

In actual fact, a little heat applied to the head tracks down the screw and softens the epoxy so the screw can be removed very easily ✅

We had to back a few out today when fairing the fwd battens on the boat 🪵

Exciting things happening in the shop this week… a couple of visitors that some of you might recognise and WE are starting planking on Temptress 😃

Once the epoxy has cured, screws can be fitted to reinforce these joints further 🔩

These get a coating of unthickened epoxy applied to them before they are inserted. Increasing their hold strength and removing any possibility of moisture ingress down the line 💧
