My sweets! We know that the diseases are rampant and we sincerely hope that you are managing alright. We are tentatively trepidatiously tantalizingly tiptoeing forward with tomorrow’s open mic! Come out if your heart says YAS and your body feels 💯. We’ve got a lot of TGOM news up our puffy sleeves so FEAR NOT, there will be many more opportunities to come out and play. Oxbow Brewing Company makes delicious beer and it is niceeeee and spacious in there. We’ll have professional sound peeps and will be dressed 🆙 like there’s no tomorrow, because maybe there is no tomorrow? Sorry, I’ve been surrounded by doomers lately. This coming Friday 8/7 we will be bringing you the newest rendition of The Great Open Mic. Outside. Monument Square. 7pm. First Friday Art Walk. Bring your own microphone (we will try to have extras). Live show AND live streamed on TGOM FB page! We gladly accept donations on Venmo (at) thegreatopenmic. We have to take care of our people at Thyme Media making this show happen. We also strongly encourage you to walk one block past Monument Square to see and engage with the encampment at City Hall. We stand in solidarity with these protesters fighting for the goals of decriminalizing homelessness and reallocating funding and resources within our community to take care of people who need help getting their basic needs met during the pandemic and beyond. Follow to stay up to date with current needs and ways to donate and contribute time or supplies. .hodgens and I have the simple goal to bring a platform to the city if anybody has a desire to use it to make sounds witcha voice. We will be be bringing music and entertainment to you and we hope you join us in this fantisimo opportunity to make some noize in our little kickass city. PLZ hit one of us up if you want to play, or show up on Friday at 7!

The Great Open Mic

Welcome to The Great Open Mic, every Monday night from 7pm-9:30pm at Empire Upstairs, Live Music & Events venue, located at 575 Congress Street in downtown Portland, Maine. It is hosted by Kari Hodgens and Luna C**t, two women dedicated to fostering a positive, entertaining, and inspiring environment for aspiring musicians and spoken word performers. UPDATE (as of 6/13/18) We will NO LONGER be doing advanced sign-ups! Doors and sign-ups will open at 6pm on Mondays! The show will begin at 7 shahp. Bar will be open at 6 with drink specials. Come mingle, sing-le, and drink-le with us. It’s a feeling like nun otha, with access to a full professional stage and sound experience, and we are so happy to help you get that nectar. Other nectars provided: $2 PBRs, and a full bar if you have sophisticated taste buds. Never hesitate to contact us with any questions or feedback, it’s an ever-evolving passion project that we hope to only continue moving up that slope towards musical radical total awesome bliss land.
