A mother of two has died after being struck by a falling tree branch while on a family outing at Witton Country Park in Blackburn, Lancashire.

32-year-old Madia Kauser had been walking with her young daughter in a pushchair when the large branch suddenly fell. In a final act of bravery, she managed to push her child to safety, but was fatally injured herself.

Emergency crews arrived within minutes and paramedics, supported by doctors, fought to save her. Despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering serious chest injuries.

At the time of the accident, her husband, Wasim, had been playing football nearby with their nine-year-old son. He later paid tribute to his wife, describing her as the “love of my life” and saying he felt “completely lost” without her.

Following the tragedy, council teams removed the remainder of the tree and trimmed surrounding branches as a safety measure. Police have confirmed that her death is not being treated as suspicious, but a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive is underway.

A mother has been jailed after causing a crash that killed two teenagers who had just finished their A-levels.

Natasha Allarakhia, 36, was driving at almost 100mph on a rural road in Lincolnshire while drinking from a can of lager. Her car ploughed into the back of a stationary Ford Fiesta waiting at temporary traffic lights.

Inside the Fiesta were William Ray, 17, and Eddie Shore, 18. Both boys died at the scene, while another teenager was left with serious injuries. The court heard the group had been returning home after an evening watching football.

Allarakhia’s two young daughters and her partner were also in her car at the time. After the crash, she initially lied to police, claiming another person had been driving before admitting the truth.

In court, she broke down in tears and sobbed “I’m so sorry” as the victims’ parents described the devastating loss of their sons.

A judge sentenced her to 10 years in prison and banned her from driving for more than 12 years. She will also have to take an extended driving test if she ever wants to drive again.

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy after luxury watches and a knife were discovered during a car stop.

Officers pulled over the vehicle and carried out a search, where they found five Rolex watches believed to be stolen. A knife was also recovered from inside the car. Both suspects were immediately taken into custody.

Detectives are now investigating how the pair came to be in possession of the high-value watches. They are also looking into whether the discovery is linked to other recent crimes involving stolen goods.

The 20-year-old man, from Worcestershire, and the teenage boy remain under investigation. Police say the arrests form part of wider efforts to tackle theft and the illegal trade of expensive items across the region.

A spokesperson urged the public to stay vigilant, adding: “We rely on the community to report suspicious activity. Information from the public is vital in helping us track down stolen property and keep weapons off the streets.”

The investigation is ongoing.

A Vietnamese restaurant in Southwark, London, has been shut down after health inspectors discovered dog meat hidden in its freezer. The meat had been labelled as goat but was later confirmed through testing to be dog.

During the inspection, officials also found serious hygiene problems, including mouse droppings and both live and dead cockroaches on the premises.

The restaurant’s owner, Vuong Quoc Nguyen, has denied knowing the true source of the meat and pleaded not guilty to several food safety charges. He claimed the meat was supplied by others and not meant to be served to customers.

Pho Na, once popular with good online reviews, is now permanently closed. The case will go to court later this year.
