Farmers, sporting shooters and gun sellers are reacting angrily to the New South Wales government's buyback scheme.

In December, NSW brought in limits of four fi****ms for most licence holders, and 10 fi****ms for others, like farmers and sports shooters.

Farmers, sporting shooters and gun sellers are all reacting angrily to the NSW government's buyback scheme, with some saying the compensation being offered is "like stealing".

NSW Premier Chris Minns and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese formally announced a gun buyback "bigger than the Howard-era" scheme over the weekend.

The reforms are part of legislation passed after the Bondi Beach terror attack in December last year aimed at a quarter of the state's 1.2 million gun owners.

As many as 274,000 fi****ms — about a quarter of those registered in NSW — and 50,000 licence holders are estimated to be affected by the reforms.

The scheme begins in November, with holders to be compensated based on the type of firearm.

What’s your experience with telcos?
Nearly 27,000 Australians from regional, rural and remote areas have lodged complaints with the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman in the past two years.
Complaints include a decline in coverage since the 3G shutdown, extended delays with faults being fixed and onerous requirements around identification and needing to conduct transactions in person.
The report makes 11 specific recommendations, with an additional overarching call to the federal government to do a “root and branch review” of the regulatory framework.

When residents woke up to the deepest snow in two decades last August, what appeared to be a normal snow day soon turned into a "disaster in slow motion."

For many living and working on the land recovery is still underway, with damage extensive and bills high.

"A disaster in slow motion" is how an orchardist describes last year's snowstorm on the New South Wales Northern Tablelands. He says the clean-up is moving at the same pace.
