Salt-N-Pepa, Spinderella, En Vogue, and Chilli of TLC rock the Arts Center crowd at their tour stop in Jersey last night.

These ladies looked, moved, and sounded better than women half their age. While all the legends were amazing to see, we were especially impressed with Chilli’s stellar performance, continuing to hold it down as T-Boz recovers.

The crowd was hot too. One of the best concerts in recent memory.

Ruben Studdard performs “Make Ya Feel Beautiful” on Cadillac Chronicles.

This deep cut is my favorite track from the very underrated Ruben, thanks to his effortlessly soulful vocal, the Ne-Yo lyrics, and that incredible Moog synth beat from Shea Taylor. I’ve been waiting years to find a live performance of this one, and Rube did not disappoint.

Jersey legend Dionne Warwick performs “A House Is Not a Home” in 1964. She’s just 24 years old here and already a vocal powerhouse.

I’ll admit it: I was today years old when I learned that Luther Vandross’ iconic rendition wasn’t the original. Dionne recorded the song nearly two decades earlier, and hearing her perform it alongside oft-remade and sampled classics like “Walk On By” and “Don’t Make Me Over” is a reminder of just how foundational her catalog is.

Rest in peace to actor Michael Wright, a magnetic screen presence who was as gifted as he was underrated.

I grew up watching him steal the show across film and television, from “The Five Heartbeats” to “Sugar Hill” to “Oz.”
