DOWN GOES NO. 1: The Heights Falcons girls flexed their dominance Friday night, knocking off the top ranked team in the classification in league-rival Wichita East.

The Falcons were led by junior Destiny Maze, who hit seven treys and finished with 31 points.

MAVS GET SWEEP FOR CHRISTMAS: Just ahead of the holiday break, the Maize South Mavericks picked up two AVCTL wins over the Derby Panthers on Friday.

Maize South basketball teams swept Derby, with both Maverick squads claiming victories on their home court.

HORNET UPSET: Valley Center boys took down the sixth-ranked team in 5A, the Salina South Cougars, 53-43 to split Friday's doubleheader.

A pair of competitive battles in ACTVL I actin in Valley Center saw the Hornet boys prevail against the sixth-ranked Cougars and the Salina South girls hold off the Hornets.

DUKES STAY PERFECT: The Wellington girls have still yet to lose as they continue to ride momentum from last year's title win. That showed against the previously unbeaten Andale Indians Friday.

Wellington was able to prevail as the Wellington Crusaders topped the Indians 37-25.

IKE SWEEPS AC: Eisenhower won two nail-biters on the road at Andover Central on Friday to round out the 2025 calendar year.

Despite a losing record in the early parts of the 2025-26 season, the Eisenhower boys went on the road and held off the Andover Central Jaguars Friday.

TROJANS DOMINATE THE PUPS: Andover looked strong in their first home win under new head coach Trey O'Neil.

Trey O'Neil, the first year head coach of the Trojans boys basketball team earned his first victory last Saturday in a 69-50 win over Lincoln College Prep in Kansas City.

ACES, CRUSADERS SPLIT: The East Blue Aces girls posted a big early-season win taking down the Kapaun Crusaders on Friday, while the boys remained perfect.

Both Kapaun and Wichita East girls went into Friday night’s matchup with unblemished records, but the Blue Aces second-chance points in the second half drove them to their fourth-straight win to open the season.

BATTLE OF 266: Maize Eagles soar past cross-town rival Maize South with new, yet familiar head coach Zach Bush.

In the girls game, the Maize South stayed undefeated with a 57-19 win.
