“ I started out taking Rada’s silks classes just for fun but this soon became an addiction instead of a hobby. Through hard work, determination and a lot of guidance from Rada I now do it as a career. Without Rada I wouldn’t have gained the knowledge, st

rength and technique possible to train into the performer I have now become. Highly recommend her classes”- Jodie Nesbitt, professional aerial artist and dancer

"Rada was my first silks teacher and has inspired me to continue even after several years after taking her classes and being on the other side of the world. She is inspiring because primarily she is whole-heartedly supportive and also ensures students have a solid grounding on all facets of the circus art from technique to core strength and endurance."- Audrey Wan

"One of the best decisions I ever made was to book onto Rada's classes. I enjoyed it so much I started to attend twice a week. It hugely inspired me, and my ability, strength and stamina developed over a short period to eventually be able to perform at Rada's showcases. An incredible, highly professional, lovely and immensely talented instructor who runs fun circus skill-packed classes"- Kisha aka Ruby Derriere, professional burlesque and fire artist

I feel like the joy and games have returned as it challenges and I learn how to be strong and creative simultaneously!”- Isla Davidson

“I found Rada's classes both enjoyable and challenging. Each week learning new skills while improving on previous lessons, pushing myself, but never beyond my sense of safety. Fantastic for complete beginners (as I was) and experienced artists. Learning silks with Rada wasn't just enjoyable in itself, but really gave me a sense of confidence in what my own body is capable of, more than any other form of exercise. Highly recommend.”- Kian Momtahan

'Rada's classes have enabled me to develop a new hobby which I absolutely love. Without her guidance, enthusiasm and professionalism I would not have progressed at the rate I have nor would I have learnt important aerial techniques as well as cool tricks! Would highly recommend attending Rada's classes whatever your ability as she understands how to work at a pace to suit your skill set whilst challenging you to develop as an aerialist"- Virginia

"I loved the class so much as it's not only a good all over workout but also so much fun"- Karen Fowler

"Rada's classes are well-structured and focussed, which is great for developing good discipline! Rada is a wonderful teacher, she breaks down skills very simply making it easy to understand and achieve. She works flexibly, adapting skills to accommodate students of various skill levels- which made her classes less intimidating as a beginner and progressively challenging as an improver. I appreciate the way she constantly pushes us to challenge our individual limits. Attending her classes has really given me a great sense of personal achievement and something to be proud of outside my day job."- Andrea Ong

“Rada is a fantastic and inspiring teacher. She manages to give all her students the attention they need doing something that is extremely challenging and while encouraging us all to push ourselves, keeps things fun and interesting. I can do things now that even a year ago I never would have thought possible. Rada’s classes beat going to the gym any day of the week!”- Miranda Prynne

"Rada's lessons are not (only) based around pretty poses and moves, instead there is a focus on learning aerial skills and gaining the necessary core strength to progress. She is great at pushing and motivating you to do your best but at the same time is able to adapt each lesson to any level of challenge. Great fun and exercise!!"- Rebeca Tortosa

"Silks makes you feel like you're flying and Rada is a wonderful teacher who helps you accomplish that. She will push you to your limits as much as she can, always keeping an eye to your safety. Rada is passionate about her art and keen to transmit her knowledge to her students. The classes involve conditioning, stretching and flexibility, both on the floor and in the air."- Nina

"I attend Rada's intermediate silks class and even that is a testament to how far I've come and how much my confidence has grown. Rada's a great teacher and an inspiring silks performer, and I find I am constantly trying to push myself to achieve more and perform the moves better, even though it can be tough sometimes! I've even managed to perform in a solo show since attending her classes, and am hoping to perform again with even more of her guidance. I would highly recommend her classes if you are looking for something that pushes you not only physically but mentally too. It's one of the best forms of exercise I've ever come across, and you'll have so much fun you'll never want to stop!"- Sofia Lisowski, www.sofiabianca.com

With her skill and vision, Rada will get you comfortably and safely soaring through the air in no time as you learn new tricks and tumbles along with her exclusive tips of the trade. OSAKA/ WE LOVE THE NIGHTLIFE... I ended up only having one night and 1.5 days in Osaka, which was a shame because I loved it! I went to the famous aquarium, which was pretty awesome- you go right to the top of quite a long escalator and then walk slowly down inside the tanks, watching all the sea life as you go... not sure housing a whale shark and dolphins and seals are all that great for them...

I left there and went to witness the insanity that is Dotonbori shopping amd party district- THOUSANDS of people, noisy bars, boats in the canal, and street stalls. I found a place to order some takoyaki (fried octopus balls) and bought a glass of sake for 100 yen (about 50p), and while I was sitting eating the lovely young barman who spoke English came over to chat, asking me where I was from and what I was doing etc. I mentioned I DJ and he led me upstairs to have a cheeky half hour mix on their Pioneer XDJ- RX3 (same as what I have at home)! The room was empty, though I pulled together a little dancefloor at one point, and mostly my new friend Soshi wanted to hear Michael Jackson (check out his insta handle!)... luckily I had Bad and Billie Jean on my memory stick so we had a little singalong and now I know I can mix using my travel earbuds instead of proper headphones, haha! First DJ set in Japan, check! And lovely Soshi is 3 days younger than my daughter. Thanks for making my last night in Japan one to remember!

I left Soshi to walk back to my hotel, and found an amazing beat-boxer busking, he was so good I stayed for a dance and built him up a crowd, gave him some money, and went off to bed. Thanks for rocking it!

The next day (I flew out at 23.25, so had the day to explore) I went to a Maid Cafe for a laugh, but all the food had meat in it, so I was somewhat forced to have the intense chocolate sundae with cornflakes in it instead 😆

Then I went up Umeda Sky Tower- to the 37th floor, pretty awesome views of Osaka! The last video is in the train crossing the water to Osaka Kansai airport on my way out, and I'm now in a bus homeward bound!

MATSUE CASTLE... followed by flower and Japanese gardens which was so beautiful and tranquil on a very hot day.

I then drove east past Mount Daisen, which was a lovely surprise!

My aim was to reach the famous Tottori Sand Dunes for sunset, which I did! Though the satnav took me to a slightly weird spot, not the main attraction which I could see in the distance with all the people meeting to watch the sand dunes at sunset. It was too close to sunset for me to correct it, so I stayed put and still enjoyed an epic sunset. I stayed overnight in Tottori and went back again today, but I will update with today's photos tomorrow, as I do.

The last photo shows horse meat on a menu in a restaurant I ate in 😭

The last few days I've felt an almost seismic shift in myself, I feel more content than I have in years, possibly even decades. I feel inspired, I feel excited about the future, and I cannot wipe the smile off my face- 50 is great, life is great, flying solo is great. Though when I say this all I feel is guilt because so many people in the world are suffering immeasurable pain for simply existing. Please stop the wars.

SHIMANE PREFECTURE... and possibly the most important shrine in all of Japan- called Izumo-taisha, it was nestled away up in very beautiful scenery as I hit the northern coastline of Shimane Prefecture. It is dedicated to the god of marriage. Noone knows exactly when it was built, but it was some time before 950AD...

I stayed the night in Matsue, where I asked to take a photo of the 3 girls who said yes as long as I didn't show their faces. Matsue was weird- Friday night but not much happening, except some people shouting on the streets and the first time I felt uncomfortable anywhere in Japan. Got yelled at by a parking attendant at the first hotel I planned to stay at... he didn't get the memo that it doesn't matter how loud you shout, if someone doesn't understand what you are trying to say, then saying it louder won't help!

JAPANESE PARADISE... Yesterday I travelled north from Hiroshima and found paradise when I visited Sandankyo Gorge. Had a lovely walk up the gorge and through the forest, saw my first Japanese snake (saw another an hour later when I was driving!), and thoroughly enjoyed the slightly cooler weather in the mountains. Travelled a little further and came across Lake Hijiri, which was picture perfect all the way round. A truly magical place. And I even saw multiple signs warning about bears, ooooh!

I drove on and found an onsen hotel to stay at called Kintano Sato Onsen, which just happened to be right next door to a place that was hand-making Kaguro costumes, just like the ones I saw in the show the night before in Hiroshima! They were kind enough to show me around the workshop when I showed interest and told them I make costumes.

The last few photos show kagura embroidery being hand sewn, how they lay out the designs and hand stitch them on. Amazing! They said the big finished coat hanging in the window took 10 people, 6 months to make, and is worth ¥2,000,000/ £400,000! Woah! Lucky me to find that!

JAPAN IN CULTURE... GOING ROGUE. I bought a 7 day Japan Rail pass before I left UK because it seemed like a good idea at the time. It gives you free bullet train across the country for 7 days- as much as you can consume... basically a ticket to taking your best selfie at every given tourist location enroute.... I was trying to leave Kyoto when I realised I didn't want to do that, so on a whim and contrary to popular vote I hired a car and I could not be happier with my choice! (I'll cash in my JR pass and get a refund).

I drove Kyoto to Hiroshima to visit my friend 's mum, in a smallmountain village, and I have had three days of cultural immersion and joy. I have been fed incredible food- delicious mushrooms every which way including tempura style before I left thus morning for breakfast, yum!

1. A photo of the stunning Koto instruments in Sumikos House, that she plays and teaches her friends in the village.
2. Hiroshima bomb site, across from Peace Memorial Park where the bomb hit... lest we forget.
3. Boat ride to Miyajima Island to see the famous Tori Gate in the water
4. I was fortunate to be invited to watch a Noh dance class, highlight of the trip so far- I got to try a few moves as well- Noh is the oldest known form of theatre/ dance, to be performed for the benefit of the deities. Truly humbling. The same movements are passed down through generations, taking lifetimes to perfect.
5. And 6. After my Noh class, I went to watch a performance of which had funny English subtitles, but was fantastic- incredible costumes which I will talk more about in my next post, as strangely they feature in my travels away from Hiroshima.
7. Fresh sushi treats, YUM
8. Mushroom tempura, YUM
9. Sumikos friend who took us to Noh, Sumiko, and me
Rest of photos are beautiful mountainous Japanese village of Kamifukawacho, and surrounds. Such an incredible few days, thank you so much Sumiko for hospitality and good laughs!

ARASHIYAMA... monkeys, bamboo forest, and more dressing up with another new Laughter Yoga friend!

My 2nd last day in Kyoto yesterday was filled with a full day trip up to Arashiyama to meet Diane Kimono, a fellow performer and laughter yoga practitioner originally from Liverpool who is based in Osaka.

Weather was HOT, HOT, HOT but we traipsed all the way to the top of the mountain to see the monkeys, enjoying a much more pleasant walk down the mountain through the trees with a lovely cool breeze. We even spied a sweet little doe and her baby fawn- so sweet!

We wandered through the streets of the little village, across the bridge, ate a vegan Yuba meal and then decided to hire yukata (the summer version of kimono- less layers, all cotton), to wander through the temples and bamboo forest. It was so much fun, and really added to the experience. Letting loose two performers in costume in such stunning scenery- we had such a laugh!

Then we sat by the bridge watching the sun go down over the mountains, finishing off another perfect day in Kyoto.

MORE KYOTO... a couple of professional photos from my Maiko makeover experience at Ayo, a scary security robot "on alert" at the train station, temple which was closed when I arrived last night but was still a lovely walk up to it with lovely sunset over Kyoto.

Today I met with a Laughter Yoga friend who I met last week , called Taakayako who took me out for another wonderful day, starting at Seimei shrine, followed by Nishijin Textile Museum where I saw how they weave kimono fabric, then on to Taakayako's son's osteopathic and acupuncture clinic for a much-needed tune up! We finished the morning off with my first Japanese veggie/ vegan burger with delicious crazy mushrooms on it- soooo good! Can't remember name of restaurant, but YUM!

I left Taakayako and caught a bus to the golden temple Kinkaku-ji which was stunning, and one of my favourites of the trip so far.

I then walked across to Funaoka Onsen (one of the few that allow tattooed folk in around the city), and had a lovely soak in the hot pools surrounded by amazing old Japanese women who kept pointing and telling me what to do when I got something wrong interpreting the system 😆... funny.

After that I trundled back to central Kyoto and my accommodation to sort out tomorrow's exciting travel plans!

KYOTO... and a little bit more of Tokyo. Well Japan, you have already exceded my expectations in so many ways. Tokyo was a blast, and my last day there was spent being shown around Meiju Jingu Shrine and gardens by a new Laughter Yoga friend Tamaki, followed by delicious sushi in Harajuku!

Then travelled to Kyoto by Shinkansen bullet train, where my first day was spent with more new Laughter Yoga friends Emi-chan and Maa-chan in Shiga Prefecture. We spent a wonderful day riding up Mount Hiei in a cable car, doing a few cheeky Laughter Yoga rounds up the mountain and visiting Enryaku-ji temple with views of Japan's largest lake Biwa, and on to another Buddhist temple called Saikyo-ji. I was then treated to wonderful shrimp tempura soba before heading back to Kyoto.

Second day was a quick visit to Kitano Tenmango Shrine fleamarket where I bought a lovely kimono and obi, and today I managed to book in last minute and get a complete Maiko makeover (a maiko is a geisha-in-training, they wear much brighter colours than geisha so I chose that option). It was an incredible experience despite the 30 degree heat 😀

Haha... writing Tokyo to kyoto with no gaps is funny as a hashtag!

TOKYO... you have stolen my heart! In two days we have shopped in more 2nd hand shops than I think I have ever seen in my life before, eaten the freshest sushi carved right in front of me, danced at a world music jam session, been to Shimokitazawa, Harajuku, Koenji, Setagaya,Shinjuku and more, drank in the smallest bars on the planet, and attended a fabulous laughter yoga session with the Tokyo Laughter Yoga club this morning, which was absolutely excellent this morning... met such lovely local people and we laughed together.
