“The Hero’s Journey isn’t about the destination. It’s about who you become along the way.”

I just finished a running challenge called The Hero’s Journey, 12 runs at various lengths. And it was in an attempt to get myself back on track with workouts and consistency.

There were moments I wanted to stop. Mentally I felt like I was weaker than I’ve been in years past, and physically I’m still trying to dial some things in. I was dealing with outside pressures along with everything else too.

But that’s the thing about a hero’s journey… it’s not about how fast you go or even where you end up.

It’s about the transformation that happens mile by mile, step by step — when you push past what you thought were your limits.

This challenge reminded me: the real victory isn’t the distance. It’s the growth, the grit, and the version of me I met along the way. I feel like I’ve got the consistency down… but what’s next? I will continue training and pushing because I have many more goals to accomplish physically here by the end of the year!

So proud of both of my little buddies!! Hudson and Decker both finished up their swimming lessons today!!

For Hudson it was his first time doing lessons, and he did so well! I’m so proud of the little guy because he absolutely loves the water!! All of our kids are fish, and they love to be in the water ❤️

Decker has been going to since he was almost 3 and he loves her and did so well again!

Love seeing the boys have so much fun and succeed!

Happy Father’s Day to these two amazing guys who have helped shape the families that are closest to me!

My Dad (Todd who is known as Toddles in our home) has been an example of amazing faith and hard work. This dude doesn’t know anything different than working hard! He also knows when he’s tapped out from a social standpoint, and will often retreat to his room or his safe haven (his shed)..I have become more and more like him in this regard as I’ve gotten older. Oddly enough, I actually admire that about him hahaha! I love my dad! I’m grateful for his example and for all he’s taught me!

Larry (Taylor’s father) was an incredible man!! I love him and look forward to the day I will see him again. His passing was (and still is) hard for me. But I know he’s no longer hurting and it brings me peace. Selfishly, I just really miss seeing him when we go to Washington to see family. I loved sitting with him and watching the food network on TV. I loved just hearing his stories. I also love his daughter immensely and I’m grateful for her. This weekend I reflected on his example to me (I only got to know him for about 6 years before he passed away), and how grateful I was for those years. I promised him I’d take care of his daughter, and I promised him I’d give him the biggest hug when I see him again. That promise still stands and I will fulfill that!!

I am so grateful for amazing father figures all around. I have uncles, cousins, friends, coaches, etc who are incredible humans and great fathers. I stand by any man who positively impacts society and takes that father responsibility seriously. (Even if they’re not fathers of their own children. You can impact someone in a positive way without actually having children. And I’m grateful for ALL of them in my life)

Happy Father’s Day Dad! And Happy Father’s Day Larry! Thank you BOTH for your examples to me and I love you both dearly.

In my latest episode of the show, I’m speaking about my thoughts on club basketball in 2025, giving my pros and cons and where I feel the state of youth sports is at currently.

It’s ever evolving. There are so many good things that have come from coaching at the club level. So many players have had opportunities to play basketball at the next level and a big reason for that is their club basketball experience. There are some amazing things about it, while at the same time some things that can definitely be improved.

Come give the episode a listen and let me know what you think 🤷‍♂️

Origin of The Gametime Guru

The Gametime Guru is different than other sports podcasts because it’s DIFFERENT. I’m not going to simply provide you with draft analysis, scores, breakdowns, etc. Instead, I provide others with a platform where they can share their stories.

See, sports can teach us so many lessons. Athletes and other sports figures have a story to share, but they don’t always have a platform on which they can share it. That’s what I’m here for.

We will provide you with weekly shows with various individuals around the world of sports. Our goal? To deliver a panoramic view on sports and help you see them through a different lens.

Subscribe to the show on your favorite platform and make sure to take part in the discussions we have on our social platforms as we continue to shine a positive light on the world of sports.
