10365 Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Ship comes with 8 minifigures, plus the figurehead which should really count as a 9th minifigure. You get Jack Sparrow, Will Turner, Gibbs, Cotton, Anamaria, Marty, Elizabeth Swann and Hector Barbossa, which is really the who’s who of the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie.
Here are some photos of the minifigures, and comparisons with their 2011 versions from 4184 The Black Pearl!
The minifigure lineup is an underrated part of the set. Having 8 exclusive characters, most of which sporting new minifigure designs feels quite generous, and Pirates of the Caribbean fans will be delighted with a new Elizabeth Swann minifigure, plus the debuts of Cotton, Marty and Anamaria.
The million dollar question of course is that Pintel and Ragetti, the bumbling pirate duo who provide much of the comic relief in the series are missing from the set.
Mike Psiaki, the set designer explained that they toiled over who to include, and that Pintel and Ragetti were strong contenders to be included, but ultimately the lineup was already too large, and they needed to stop at some point.
Mike also did say that “you never know. There’s always there’s always room for future LEGO sets. I’ll say that”, so fingers crossed this means that LEGO has more Pirates of the Caribbean-themed sets in the pipeline, depending on the success and reception of this set.
