New Zealand isn't playing ball weather-wise at the moment - so let's go where the days are warmer, and the anemonefish make the coral their home.

Wakatobi Dive Resort is home to plenty of spectacular diving, and you're likely to see any of these little critters swimming around their homes when you take a dive.

These cute little fish pay rent on their homes

Where did you visit last Friday? Did you have a Black Friday shop - or a Blue Friday dive?

California native Gil Zeimer Author took to the ocean, and is keen to connect with others who chose the water over the wallet. Send us your pics if you joined him!

Did you dive or snorkel on Blue Friday?

Best of luck to the Spearfishing New Zealand team who are competing at the CMAS World Spearfishing champs off the coast of Sao Francisco do Sul.

Supported by Beuchat NZ and South Seas Spearo, the team are giving it their all in some seriously challenging conditions, which are different to anything Dwane Herbert, Kieran and Chris are used to - day one saw 80-plus boats fighting for good spots in a very small area, to do five hours of diving in just 2-3m visibility.

Team captain Dwane's caught four fish, Kieran three, and Chris two - a good start. That's put Dwane in sixth place at the end of day one.

Stay tuned for more updates - and best of luck to the team!

Good luck to these legends Dwane, Kieran and Chris representing NZ at the Spearfishing world cup!

The CMAS World Spearfishing Championships, is launching off the coast of São Francisco do Sul tomorrow morning, local time. We look forward to hearing an update on how they're getting on. South Seas Spearo will be providing live updates.

The competition area is tiny—remarkably smaller than what we'd typically use for a New Zealand Nationals, which is already a swim-based comp. With only 2-3 meters of visibility, tomorrow will see around 80 boats crammed together, all racing and jostling for the best positions over five grueling hours of diving.

How do we regulate how commercial fishing operators manage the 'accidental bycatch' of swordfish if they are set to gain financially from taking advantage of a loophole in the system?

We are working with multiple organisations, including LegaSea NZ and New Zealand Sport Fishing Council Inc to tell the Minister for Fisheries that select commercial operators shouldn't hold the key to this beautiful species (or any other, for that matter).

Read on for more, and please sign the petition through the link below. Submissions close this Friday - so now's a great time to act.

Dave Smith this covers some of the issues you were asking about yesterday.

Good morning Mr Shane Jones.

We trust you have had a good nights rest and time for reflection. The thousands of us that attended have slept well and had a fantastic day out with no known incidents reported. You are going to just love the drone shots!

We just wanted to reach out to you in relation to your meeting this afternoon with some people in the recreational sector. It was good of you to get in touch with them. We are still yet to hear from you. Just your political opposition.

In relation to your Facebook video yesterday we wanted to ask for clarity on a couple of comments you made.

1. You mention that these Marlin Bycatch will be monitored by Cameras on these vessels.

Response. Will this be the same cameras that you are lobbying to limit on commercial vessels? is it the same cameras that had a failure rate of up to 80% in its first year. Is it the same cameras that are monitored by a company who is owned by the commercial fishing sector? Please confirm.

2. You mention there are some anxieties and misinformation around yesterday.

Response. Can you please let us know what information this was that the organisers have put out there? We would be happy to amend these if they are wrong. We will wait for your contact on this.

3. You so kindly mentioned that this is a powerful lobbying group.

Response. Apparently yesterday you knew nothing about us. Can you please tell us how we have become so powerful in the space of 24 hours? I think we know the answer.

4. You mention “you strike me, I strike you” and then say you look forward to constructive dialogue. But less than a minute earlier you were calling them “exchanges”.

Response. Shane this is quite an aggressive response to a meeting that you are rushing to. We appreciate you may be a bit on edge as this is the largest public push back you have faced in your career. But take a step back. 3 deep breaths and relax. I can send you a link to a good mindfulness audiobook if you need.

Finally you have mentioned “mischievous mythology’s” (I’m glad I typed that, and didn’t have to say it).

Response. Them some big words without substance. What mythology’s are these? Or did you just get off the Playstation and forgot you weren’t playing God of War anymore. There must have been a lot of missed calls from what the reporters have told me. But hey we all need down time.

Mr Shane, you saw some numbers yesterday that even we were not expecting. This was a 5 knot day where many other decided to go fishing.

✅ We have had people drive from as far as 6 hours away and sleep in their cars and boats overnight
✅ We had people in the harbour flying the flags in $4m boats
✅ We had people who couldn’t afford boats and just strapped some rods to their cars
✅ We had every race and nationality in NZ representing this movement yesterday.
✅ We have had nearly every fishing personality support this and share this internationally
✅ We had the Captain of the Maori All Blacks volunteering his time and voice

You have a very small window of time to amend these unfair and un-Kiwi like proposals. Everybody knows these are just loopholes to exploit in the future.

Those flags yesterday are not disposable. Those people are not staying quiet. The organisers are ready to go again. Next time we go to Northland and we remind your electorate who exactly is asking for their vote.

Then….. We go nationwide. All at once, all coordinated. In every major city in NZ. We go to the roads, to the water and to the air. We could probably even get a spaceship!

Fishermen and women are from all walks of life and fishermen and women have had enough.

This is what we did with Zero budget and zero experience.

Maybe it’s time you starting actually putting New Zealand First

It's been a beautiful weekend in and on the water! Heading out for a safe dive means ensuring your tanks are filled with breathable air - but how does that actually work?

We spoke to the team at General Marine Services Limited to find out more about what a dive compressor actually is, how it works and what your options are as a diver.
