qarînah is the solo noisey beat-driven solo project of LA based multi-disciplinary artist Sin (fka Genital Quartz). Utilizing synthesizers, vocal loops, contact mic’d pieces of trash, samples and inherited gear, they weave dark and moody walls of sound. This project draws from the memorial wells of pain, redemption, and futures of their ancestors- transmuted into virility. An orgone accumulator of the psychedelia that is grief. Everyday social miscommunications, technological failures, and the desecration of the earth become tools of cacophony for their farces.
A qarînah or قرينه is an Egyptian spirit, most similar to a succubus, who visits its victims only in dreams. The only way to be freed from one may be achieved through ritual to appeal the god(s) for divine protection and intervention.
Every performance is a spell for the collective liberation of humanity. The harsh sounds emitted from machines pushed to their limits are a declaration of defiance to the empire, a reminder that while our politics are based in love- it is a militant resolve that isn’t afraid of violence that will get us there.

“‘Patience’ is the new, experimental full length album from Tyler Holmes. ‘Patience’ because it’s been 5 years since their last record. ‘Patience’ because they, admittedly, have none and profess that it is their life’s work to learn some.” The record folds gentle, bucolic acoustic arrangements into rusted, metallic backdrops and looping vocal textures — an intentionally opaque, immersive listening experience that explores acceptance, loss, and what it means to try to capture the human spirit in art.

Artifact’ is the second single from Tyler Holmes’ new record, ‘Patience’ (released 9/26/25) . The track works as a synecdoche for Holmes’ upcoming records, proposing the track as an artifact itself of the process of attempting to ascertain which parts of the human spirit or consciousness can be captured or trapped in art or physical memorabilia. The 7 minute trajectory starts in a chopped and screwed harmonic memory of vocals, swirling in on themselves as if they were being sucked down the drain or into a black hole. The track unfolds to a simple, contemplative melody where ghostly, mechanized remnants of vocals and a fluid, almost country-twinged guitar tremolo swims around the ominous yet comforting anchor of a bassline. One of the few tracks on ‘Patience’ with inteligible vocals, ‘Artifact’ tearily peers through the obfuscation and disorder of memory to sum up the experience of archiving one’s self : ‘On a destroyed drive I try to hide the fragments of my being’.
