Calling All Survivors, Parents & Professionals: I Need Your Voice.

Have you or your child been personally impacted by the way disabilities and special needs were treated in the Independent Fundamental Baptist (IFB) church? I’m working on a powerful upcoming series and am looking to speak with:
• Parents of special needs children who were told their child was simply “defiant” and asked not to return to children’s ministry.
• Adults who faced bullying, neglect, or spiritual abuse due to disabilities.
• Therapists who can speak on sensory needs and how churches (especially IFB) often fall short in providing inclusive support.
• Anyone who left an IFB church because of the lack of love, compassion, or resources for their child.
• Those whose church either did or did not offer outreach like meal trains, therapy, or real support for special needs families.

I’ve heard so many heartbreaking stories—stories of harm, exclusion, and misunderstanding within IFB spaces. It’s time to shine a light on this.

I’M BACK — did you miss me? Because I missed you!

Did you really think I’d take more time off from this podcast? Ha, well if you did… then you don’t know your host very well. So let me reintroduce myself!

I’m Olivia, host of We Are One Podcast — born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. I spent 20 years inside the IFB (Independent Fundamental Baptist) church, and now my mission is crystal clear: to give survivors and ex-members a voice, a safe space, and the support they deserve while helping expose the truth behind the walls of these institutions.

When I’m not having real, raw conversations with survivors, I’m probably binge-watching Law & Order: SVU, exploring local bowling alleys and cozy coffee shops with my boyfriend, or out shopping with my friends. I’m also a full-time nanny, and this podcast? It’s my second job — and just like nannying, it’s something I pour my whole heart into.

We Are One Podcast exists to amplify voices, bring light to hidden truths, and remind every survivor that they are not alone. If you’re here, you’re seen, you’re heard, and you’re always welcome. 🤍

We Are One Podcast: Seeking Survivors & Materials for Upcoming Hyles-Anderson & First Baptist Church of Hammond Series

We are preparing to film a powerful new series featuring survivors from Hyles-Anderson College (HAC) and First Baptist Church of Hammond (FBCH). Olivia is looking for individuals willing to share their experiences to help shed light on the reality behind these institutions and the lasting impact of Jack Hyles’ legacy.

This series aims to be educational, fact-based, and survivor-led, bringing awareness through firsthand testimonies. Your voice matters.

Additionally, Olivia is seeking photos, videos, and school materials from HAC to incorporate into the series. If you have anything to contribute, please send them to [email protected].

Together, we can continue to expose the truth.
