This is a great experience for the Summer.
Did you know some of the best and freshest oysters come from Katama South Beach Martha's Vineyard?
You can take a tour of the oyster farm, see how they harvest, clean, sort, and then sample them fresh on a skiff. The colder water makes oysters sweet, rich and robust.
I toured with Ryan from Signature Oyster Farm, and loved every minute. signatureoysterfarm.com
I finished the afternoon with half a dozen at 19 Raw in Edgartown.
For the fellow nerds:
- Cold water generally makes oysters taste better. Cold water slows down an oyster's metabolism, leading to a firmer, more robust texture and a sweeter, richer flavor due to the storage of glycogen.
- Water Filtration: Oysters are natural filter feeders, meaning they draw in water and filter out excess nutrients, algae, and sediments. This process improves water clarity and quality, making the harbor a healthier ecosystem. For example, a single oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water per day.
- Habitat Creation: Oysters tend to grow in clusters, forming oyster reefs. These reefs provide complex structures that serve as habitat and shelter for various marine life, such as fish, crabs, and other invertebrates.
- Shoreline Protection: Oyster reefs can act as natural barriers, helping to protect coastal shorelines from erosion and storm surges by dissipating wave energy.
- Sustainable Food Source: Oyster farming is considered a sustainable method of seafood production as it has minimal environmental impact and doesn't require additional feed inputs, unlike some other forms of aquaculture.
-- Carbon Sequestration: Oysters incorporate carbon into their shells through calcification, effectively sequestering carbon from the water,

Bricco Panetteria and Bricco Salumeria & Pasta Shop is where you will find top quality ingredients and tremendous sandwiches in the North End.
I know they have beautiful restaurants in there Empire but their ability to take a deli to the next level, helped by having their own Bakery right next door, speaks volumes about their focus on serving the needs of the community as well as espresso martinis next door right their Flagship restaurant.

For 22 years the coffee mug in Auburn has been keeping people fueled up.
You should never sleep on these local mom and pop places, they have regulars coming there for decades for a reason.

I've been going here since 2004, and this is definitely one of the most visit restaurants in Plymouth.
I love going you around but obviously with a nicer weather when the deck on the first floor and second floor is open, you get a much different experience.
They're famous for their impossibly thick chapter that everyone loves!
Walking distance from so much to see on Water Street in Plymouth, Cabby Shack always delivers.
This was just a quick visit but I'll definitely be back.

Completely worth a trip to if you are near the .
Cutlets are fried thin and cooked perfectly. Sauce is solid, more similar to my grandmother's than my mother's. And all the ingredients for fresh especially the bread.

I know it's expensive, and yes it was definitely a little salty, but the flavor was there. Not sure this is for everyone though.
Unsung hero were those onion rings I think they tempora battered them. If I go back I would only get the onion rings. Being right next to the North End I'm hard-pressed ever suggest this,b when there are much better options. I think this place would do better in a different part of the city.

Yes this is in Stowe Vermont, and I'm always happy to promote it because it's an amazing event and I hope to see Massachusetts do something like this in the future.

Until then, I am happy to share this information.

The Stowe VT Balloon Festival will be held from June 26-28, 2026 in wonderful Stowe, Vermont.

Planned improvements for this year – a move to Mayo Field, in the center of Stowe, which will hopefully allow more launches! Also enhanced vendors, performances, and MORE BALLOONS!
