WHY DO WE NEED SISTERHOOD?
Sara, you talk a lot about sisterhood in your retreats...
Does that mean you sit around drinking wine, gossiping and complaining about how hard life as a woman can be?
Not quite.
For me, true sisterhood is about encouragment, loving support, and a heart-to-heart type of connection.
It is about lifting up rather than pushing down, and about helping each other thrive in ways we couldn’t do on our own.
It is a place where you're likely to lose yourself in shared laughter, but equally as much where your tears are caught rather than judged, where and you are held, not ridiculed.
It's a space beyond competition, where the sharing of personal experiences - both light and dark - is safe and welcome, and where we are reminded that it is OK to be sensitive. To feel. To be all over the place with emotions sometimes, and perhaps most of all; to feel seen and u n d e r s t o o d.
It is offering a kind of medicine I haven’t quite experienced elsewhere.
If you never had this for yourself I urge you to go after it, because it entails so much of what I believe the world desperately needs - essentially more sensitivity, love and compassion.
And to all you wonderful men out there - I encourge you to do the same; explore the power of intentional brotherhood, cause I hear that is an equally amazing space to be.
In the end, this is not about separation, but rather the opposite. It’s about withdrawing for a while and celebrate our differences, and eventually join forces again even more powerfully, in order to create whatever magic s**t we came here to do.
That's one of the visions I have when creating my retreats at least - not to divide, but to actually empower and strengthen, in a way I know how to.
