Villa Miro is projected on a triangular plot of land in Casablanca, the silhouette of the plan being generated by mandatory setbacks. This particular shape led us to a configuration organized around a central helical staircase protected by a wooden lattice and which becomes the core of all the spaces.

🔴 The Echo of the Sea Holiday Home / Entopos Architects

Arched forms and textured facades define Entopos' coastal retreat in Crete. Greek architecture studio Entopos has transformed an existing coastal structure into a contemporary holiday retreat, 'Echo of the Sea', designed to accommodate eight guests. Located near the historic Venetian fortress of Frangokastello, the project draws inspiration from its surroundings, influencing both its architectural approach and name. Respecting the original building's footprint as outlined in the brief and program, Entopos reconfigured the interior to establish an open-plan living and kitchen area while carving out two private bedroom spaces on the south side of the building, offering uninterrupted views of the sea. The design embraces the fluidity between indoor and outdoor living, ensuring a seamless transition between the two.

🔴 Grecov House / ARQBR Arquitetura e Urbanismo

The plot is located in the Residential Alphaville II condominium, on the outskirts of DF-140. With a view of the native riparian forest, the house is constructed on two levels, taking advantage of the natural slope of the topography to integrate the landscape into the project. The main entrance, facing the internal part of the condominium, features a wooden panel that connects two defined volumes. The opposite facade, facing north, has strategically placed openings to allow contemplation of the surrounding nature.

🔴 Farmhouse at Balkash / ROOMOOR

Balkash is a small rural village of approximately 200 families located in the northern city limits of Surat. The village settlement originates around a lake, with two linear streets lined by rows of traditional pitched-roof tropical houses leading to the surrounding farmlands. Proximity to the sea and a high groundwater table allow for the cultivation of crops such as sugarcane, paddy, and coconut plantations. The people here lead an austere life with simplistic ideals and an affinity to nature.

🔴 Entreverdes House / 24 7 Arquitetura

Entreverdes House is located on a plot with an 8-meter slope, 50 meters deep, and a privileged view of a dense permanent preservation area. The starting point of the project was the creation of a lateral ramp for vehicles in order to hide the cars from the street and avoid the construction of three floors. The proposal aimed to overcome the slope with the help of the car, promoting a more fluid distribution of the family’s needs.

🔴 RU House / Juan Carlos Sabbagh Arquitectos

The assignment was a house with a fairly extensive program that had to be developed on a single level. The land has a steep slope facing north which is accessed from its south side. A semi-buried volume is proposed in the hillside, which is buried against the hill to the South to allow access from the street through the roof and is detached from the ground to the North to seek the best views towards the valley and the Golf course.

Named after and centred around the century-old heritage-protected fig tree, Casa Figueira is a home nestled into its surroundings. Quietly secluded at the end of a cul-de-sac in the Sydney harbourside suburb of Rose Bay, the topography of the site eventuates to gun barrel views of the harbour and city beyond.

🔴 House of Cross / Chaoffice

The three-year pandemic reshaped the way people live and work, and the owner of this house was no exception. In 2023, they decided to return to their parents' home in the village and rebuild a house that could accommodate three generations while also serving as a home office. In the years to come, they may settle here permanently, no longer needing to commute between the city and countryside for work. As always, the intent of this design is to address real-life challenges. It does not aim to embrace abstract notions of "tradition" or aesthetic conventions. Kenneth Frampton wrote that confronting a place's inherent issues can become an opportunity for the development of critical regionalism. This idea aligns with my own interests.
