His late inclusion follows an unexpected documentation problem involving Joseph Melto Quiah, who had been called up to replace injured striker Mohammed Kamara.

NCSM Tightens Football Eligibility Rules Ahead of County Sports Meet

The National County Sports Meet (NCSM) has introduced a series of revised football eligibility regulations aimed at promoting fair competition, developing grassroots talent, and preserving the tournament’s identity as a platform for emerging players.

Under the new regulations, players who have represented Liberia at either junior or senior national-team level will no longer be eligible to participate in the football competition.

The restriction applies to both current and former national-team players, effectively reserving the tournament for footballers without national-team experience.

The NCSM has also ruled that active Liberia Football Association First and Second Division players are ineligible for the competition.

Players who have previously featured in either division and completed three full seasons before the start of the tournament will also remain ineligible under the revised guidelines.

The regulations further limit participation for players with extensive NCSM experience

Gambia Ends Liberia’s WAFU A U-17 Title Hopes With 2-1 Semi-Final Victory

Liberia’s Junior Lone Star have suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat to Gambia’s Young Scorpions in the semi-finals of the WAFU Zone A U-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, bringing an impressive campaign to an end at the last-four stage.

Liberia had a crucial opportunity to change the course of the match before halftime after being awarded a penalty, but the Junior Lone Star failed to convert from the spot.

Gambia capitalized on Liberia’s missed opportunity, finding the breakthrough to take a 1-0 lead into the halftime interval.

Following the restart, Gambia maintained control of the tempo and continued to apply pressure on the Liberian defense. The Young Scorpions eventually doubled their advantage, leaving the Junior Lone Star facing a difficult task as they searched for a route back into the contest.

Liberia, however, refused to surrender and continued to push forward in the closing stages.

Their persistence finally paid off in the 84th minute when the Junior Lone Star pulled a goal back from substitute Larmin Kamara, immediately raising hopes of a dramatic late comeback.

Gambia remained composed during the final minutes, defending their lead to secure a 2-1 victory and advance to the WAFU Zone A U-17 tournament final.
