Low pressure near the western Gulf Coast was designated Potential Tropical Cyclone 1 at 11 AM EDT Tue, June 16. PTC 1 will merge into a stalled front across the southeast US. While direct tropical cyclone impacts are not expected for NC/SC/GA, the remnants of PTC 1 could enhance heavy rain and severe storm potential for the area Thu-Fri, June 18-19. Winds look to be very gusty Thursday regardless, with some gusts as high as 35 mph.

FIRST SPAGHETTIS - We're getting spaghetti models on the "possible* tropical system... It is expected to move into the waters off TX and possible form into a tropical depression or TS Arthur. Regardless it will be a big rain maker for the southeast and us! Best chance for rain comes Thursday night into Friday.

The latest forecast for the next 36 hours shows it’s going to be much cooler at the start of the week, so enjoy it while it lasts. We’re also keeping an eye on the possibility of a strong storm system that could impact our Weather later on this week.An upper-level low is expected to break away from the jet stream and slowly drift across the region. These systems can be pesky, often bringing repeated rounds of thunderstorms that may produce damaging winds, large hail, and pockets of localized flooding. We will be monitoring it

Here’s the latest radar update at 8:13 PM. A line of showers is moving through the mountains right now, but we’re not expecting too much of a ruckus from it, although the circled area near Black Mountain is starting to show a bit of activity. There’s some heavy rain over near Taylorsville, so get ready for a nice little shower that might help cool things off tonight.
