SATURDAY LICENSE SERVICES RETURNS JUST IN TIME FOR SCHOOL

TAMPA, Fla., August 14, 2025 – The Hillsborough County Tax Collector's Office is offering Saturday License Services just in time for the new school year at its Brandon location (3030 N Falkenburg Rd.) on August 16, 2025 from 9 AM to 2 PM.
During Saturday License Services, high school and college students can take knowledge or road skills tests and obtain their driver licenses or learner's permits, and Hillsborough County residents can renew their licenses. The convenient weekend option eliminates the need to miss school or take time off during weekdays, making it easier for families to handle their licensing needs together.

"We're always looking for ways to expand our service options—including weekend licensing services—to provide residents with greater convenience and accessibility," said Tax Collector Nancy Millan. “This initiative reflects the Hillsborough County Tax Collector's commitment to adapting services for our growing community's needs.”

How to Schedule Your Appointment
Saturday licensing services are by appointment only. Call 813-635-5200, option 5 to register for your appointment. Limited spots available – appointments cannot be made online.
Registration deadline: Friday, August 15th by 5PM

Available Services

For Students: Road tests, written (knowledge) tests, driver license and learner's permit issuance
New Learner's Permit Requirements: Individuals under 18 years old who have never held a driver license from any other state, country, or jurisdiction must complete a 6-Hour Driver Education Traffic Safety (DETS) course before applying for a Florida driver license
The DETS course includes a 50-question exam which applicants must successfully pass to become eligible for their learner's permit

Grandfathered: Individuals under 18 who completed the TLSAE course prior to August 1, 2025, can use their certificate for one year from its completion date to obtain their permit
For Adults: Driver license renewals (licenses issued 2018 or earlier are eligible)
Students must meet all eligibility requirements before scheduling a driving test.
