Growing up, Sage Sol Pitchenik wanted to hide.

When therapy didn't help, Pitchenik, who uses they/them pronouns, started going to the Center for Transyouth Health and Development at Children's Hospital Los Angeles, the country's biggest public provider of gender-affirming care for children and teens. It changed their life.

But in response to the Trump administration's threat to cut federal funds to places that offer gender-affirming care to minors, the center will be closing its doors July 22. Pitchenik has been among the scores of protesters who have demonstrated regularly outside the hospital to keep it open.

In operation for three decades, the facility is among the longest-running trans youth centers in the country and has served thousands of young people on public insurance.

🌟 What a night to remember! 🎉 We celebrated the 3rd Ethylina Canne Day “A Celebration of Drag” by having community leaders (including a few straight allies) dress in drag for the very first time, all for charity! 💖

Our hearts are filled with gratitude, and we want to thank you all again for participating in last night's ETHYLINA CANNE DAY festivities! It was a wonderful night filled with joy, laughter, and compassion. Your willingness to say YES and create the art of drag made the event truly special! 🎭✨

Your involvement directly benefited Oak Grove Sanctuary Palm Springs and LGBTQ foster youth. The show was a success—thanks to your charisma, uniqueness, nerve, and talent—we raised over $4000! 🎊 Pretty amazing for pulling this together in just a week! 🙌💰

🙏 Thank you MENTORS for giving your time, energy, talents, and boundless fabulousness to bring joy to everyone and support such a deserving organization in the valley.

Today, Oak Grove Sanctuary Palm Springs remains deeply committed to providing LGBTQ+ foster youth with safe, stable housing, personalized support, and the tools they need to thrive. More than just a place to live, it is a springboard to independence—a community where young people can heal, grow, and embrace their futures with confidence.
