ALBANY, Ga. — A local church is opening its doors this weekend for a day centered on health, wellness, and community support.

The Women of Wellness & Project Elevation Community Health Event will take place Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, located at 3512 Moultrie Road in Albany.

The free event will offer a wide range of services aimed at supporting both physical and mental well-being. Attendees can take advantage of health screenings, haircuts, chair yoga sessions, mini spa treatments, and fresh vegetables, along with educational resources focused on topics like gut health and overall wellness.

Organizers say the event is designed to connect the community with valuable services and information in a welcoming environment. Participants will also have the opportunity to receive a $40 gift card while supplies last.

The event is open to the public, and families are encouraged to attend.

ALBANY, Ga. – Celebrate Earth Day weekend with a full day of wildlife, music, and family-friendly activities at the Upland Wildlife Festival, happening Saturday, April 18, at Chehaw Park and Zoo. The festival runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and promises hands-on experiences for nature lovers of all ages.

Attendees can enjoy live wildlife programs featuring birds of prey, reptile shows, and bird dog demonstrations, as well as land management presentations, live music, and interactive kids’ activities like face painting and bounce houses. TIFTON, Ga. – A night of glowing fun and fitness is coming to campus as a unique 5K event lights up the area next week.

The “Gee Haw, GLOW Back” 5K is set for Friday, April 17, at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, with activities kicking off at 7:30 p.m. and the race beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Hosted by the ABAC Cross Country team and the college’s Athletic Training Department, the glow-themed walk and run is open to participants of all ages and experience levels—from first-time runners to seasoned competitors.

Organizers say the course will highlight several well-known campus landmarks, including athletic fields, the rodeo arena, Lake Baldwin, the campus chapel, and the historic front circle where the college first began in 1908. The route includes a mix of paved and unpaved terrain.

Pre-race activities will take place before the start. The first 200 registered finishers will receive medals at the finish line.

The event aims to bring the campus and community together while supporting ABAC student-athletes.

MOULTRIE, Ga. – Springtime fun and the smell of barbecue are set to take over downtown Moultrie as a popular annual festival returns for another year.

The 22nd Annual Spring Fling and Backyard BBQ Festival will be held April 17 and 18, bringing two days of family-friendly activities, food, and live entertainment.

Organizers say the festival will feature a wide variety of attractions, including arts and crafts vendors, food trucks, games, children’s activities, and a backyard BBQ competition. Attendees can also take part in special events like the Run for the Ranch race and the Kiwanis pancake breakfast.

One of this year’s highlights will be a performance from JW Griffin, a Moultrie native and current contestant on The Voice, who is scheduled to take the stage Saturday at 11:30 a.m.

The event kicks off Friday night with a live concert from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday’s festivities continue from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with activities planned throughout the day.

Organizers expect more than 15,000 people to attend, making it one of the largest community events of the year in Moultrie.

ALBANY, Ga. – Local business owners will have an opportunity to sharpen their financial skills at an upcoming summit focused on building stronger, more sustainable businesses.

The Money Matters Business Summit, hosted by the UGA Small Business Development Center in Albany, is set for Tuesday, April 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will take place at The Event Center at Northwest Library, located at 2507 Dawson Road.

The summit will feature expert speakers addressing key financial topics facing small businesses today, including grant funding opportunities, retirement planning, and the use of artificial intelligence to analyze business finances.

Among the featured presenters is Jeretha H. Tabor, who will discuss building financial resilience and generational wealth. Daniel McCoy will break down the realities of grant funding for small businesses, while Thomas Credle will share strategies on using AI tools to better understand and track financial performance.

Organizers say attendees will learn how to plan for retirement as a business owner, evaluate grant opportunities, track key financial indicators, and develop strategies for long-term growth and exit planning.

MOULTRIE, Ga. – A community yard sale with a charitable twist is set to take place this weekend in Moultrie.

Live Oak Storage will host its Spring Community Yard Sale on Saturday, April 11, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., bringing together local vendors, small businesses, and shoppers for a day of deals and community connection.

Organizers say the event will feature a wide range of items, including handmade goods, crafts, and secondhand treasures. In addition to shopping, attendees can enjoy food trucks, raffle drawings, and family-friendly activities throughout the day.

TIFTON, Ga. – Professional wrestling action is returning to Tifton as Kraken Pro-Wrestling prepares to host an event this weekend.

The show is set for Sunday, April 12 at 4 p.m. at Chino & Letty’s Place.

Organizers say the event will feature a Best of 5 main event series between Xander King and ERC, along with the semi-finals of the “Tides of War” tag team tournament. Teams competing in the semi-finals include The Business, Saturday Night Temptations, Noir, and All-Star Special, as the tournament moves closer to crowning the first Kraken Pro-Wrestling Tag Team Champions.

The event also comes as momentum builds toward the upcoming Kraken Classic in May, with several storylines and competitors continuing to take shape.

Tickets are $18 for first and second row seating and $12 for general admission. Children ages 6 and under can attend free with a paid general admission ticket or purchase front row seating for $5.

CAMILLA, Ga. – Residents have the opportunity to learn about cancer prevention and screening this Thursday, April 9th, at a free Lunch & Learn hosted by Colquitt Regional Medical Center. The event runs from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Camilla, 27 East Broad Street.

The program features Dr. Shelby Jones, the newest provider at Sterling Group Internal Medicine in Moultrie. Attendees can enjoy a complimentary lunch while gaining valuable information about cancer screening, personal risk, and available options.

ALBANY, Ga. – One of the most anticipated events of the year at Albany State University is set to take place this weekend, bringing together community leaders, alumni, and supporters for a night focused on student success.

The annual Blue and Gold Scholarship Gala will be held Saturday, April 11, at 6 p.m. inside the ASU West Campus Arena.

FITZGERALD, Ga. – Skydivers and thrill-seekers from across the region are set to gather in Fitzgerald for a high-flying weekend of adventure and entertainment.

The annual Fitz Boogie celebration kicks off Thursday, April 9, at Paulk Park and runs through Sunday, April 12, bringing four days of skydiving, live entertainment, and themed festivities.

The event features organized jumps for all experience levels, including tandem skydives, giving beginners the opportunity to jump from a plane alongside a trained instructor. Tandem jump packages are available, with pricing starting at $249 and additional options for video packages.

A major highlight this year is the expected appearance of the historic DC-3 aircraft known as Mr. Douglas. Organizers say the plane will offer a limited number of lift tickets for participants looking for a unique skydiving experience, with availability expected to be limited.

Beyond the sky, the event also includes a full lineup of nightly entertainment. Attendees can enjoy themed parties like “Fiesta Friday,” “Rock n Roll Saturday,” and “Slumber Party Sunday,” along with live music, comedy, food, and social events throughout the weekend.

ALBANY, Ga. – UPDATE (1:02 p.m. April 07, 2026): Authorities say Taylirie Johnson was located safely and has returned home.

The Albany Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing juvenile.

Authorities say 13-year-old Taylirie Johnson was reported missing on April 5. She was last seen leaving her aunt’s residence around 10 p.m.

Johnson is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall, weighing approximately 120 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a blue shirt and orange shorts.

Police say her possible hangout locations are unknown at this time.

Anyone with information on her whereabouts is urged to contact the Albany Police Department at 229-431-2100 or the non-emergency number at 229-431-2132.

TIFTON, Ga. – Rodeo action is returning to Tifton as Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College prepares to host its annual Gee Haw Whoa Back Rodeo during Homecoming weekend.

The two-night event is set for April 10 and April 11 at the ABAC Rodeo Arena. Gates open at 6 p.m., with the rodeo beginning at 7 p.m. each night.

Cowboys and cowgirls from across the Southeast will compete in a variety of events, including ba****ck riding, saddle-bronc riding, tie-down calf roping, steer wrestling, breakaway roping, barrel racing, and bull riding.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children ages 6 to 17, and free for children 5 and under. A limited VIP seating add-on is available for $10, which includes a drink and event koozie, but must be purchased in addition to a general admission ticket.

Organizers say ABAC students will receive free admission Friday night with a valid student code, while ABAC Alumni Association members can attend free on Saturday with proof of membership.

Friday night’s events will also feature a performance by the Golden Girls, the crowning of Homecoming royalty, and the presentation of the Stallion Cup.
