Sometimes the best views don't need a long walk. Sometimes it's just right beside the road!

This is Talubin Falls in Brgy. Talubin, Bontoc, Mountain Province and is sitting beside the road, waiting for anyone who slows down to notice. That's the beauty of the Cordillera. It shows up where you least expect it.

I had no idea what this waterfall was called, but I couldn't just drive past it. And I'm glad I did!

On my way back to Manila along the Bontoc - Banuae Road, I saw this waterfall (Talubin Falls) and had to stop to enjoy the view. You have the cascading waterfalls, the rice terraces at the other side and a peaceful stretch of river, all in one unexpected roadside spot.

Sometimes, the best discoveries are the ones you never planned for.

Meet Tatay Lotno!

Tatay Lotno is the only Igorot in Brgy. Bayyo who proudly wears the traditional "Bahag" in Bayyo Rice Terraces Viewpoint. He personally invited us (and now, YOU) to visit their village and witness the beautiful Bayyo Rice Terraces up close.

And when you see these rice terraces, we're hoping they'll convince you to finally plan and visit this place!

Second time's the charm!

The first visit, it was all gold and harvest season in full swing. This time, I arrived just days before, catching these rare mix of green and gold across the rice terraces!

Welcome to Bayyo Rice Terraces!

Bayyo Rice Terraces is currently in its golden season, and even though the fields have turned golden, the view remains absolutely breathtaking. Surrounded by scenic mountains and the village resting right beside the terraces. Truly a beautiful sight!

This is also where I met Tatay Lotno, the only local wearing the traditional “Bahag,” at the Bayyo Rice Terraces viewdeck. Currently, renovations are being done at the viewdeck. Once completed, you can also take a photo with him and hear a little about life in the village.

According to Tatay Lotno, March onwards is a beautiful time to visit, when the terraces turn lush and green. And if you want to experience the place beyond a quick stop, he also invited travelers to stay overnight in the village, with homestays now available.

Sometimes, the best travel memories aren't just the views, they're the people you meet along the way.
