"Roll" by Wolfgang Muthspiel trio is out now. It anticipates his new album "Tokyo", which will be released on 26 September 2025 on CD, LP and digital. Pre-order the album here: https://ecm.lnk.to/Tokyo

Wolfgang Muthspiel and his trio with Scott Colley on bass and Brian Blade on drums goes into its third recording-venture swinging, setting the stage for what may be the group’s most adventurous trio recording with a delicate reading of Keith Jarrett’s “Lisbon Stomp”. Throughout the album however, the Austrian guitarist and his American cohorts turn the spotlight towards Wolfgang’s captivating originals, touching on balladic lyricism (“Pradela”, “Traversia”), subtle folk infusions (“Strumming”, “Flight”), as well as oblique chamber jazz (“Weill You Wait”) and twangy rock and roll (“Roll”).

Listen to Roll by Wolfgang Muthspiel, Scott Colley, Brian Blade.

“Libro Primo”, the new album by Rolf Lislevand, is out now on CD and digital: https://ecm.lnk.to/LibroPrimo

“Il Libro Primo”, a writer or a musician's first volume of works, can often hold the most inspired and radical creations of an artist. This recording is dedicated to the works of Italian composers for lute in the first half of the 17th century, largely published in their first printed books. (Rolf Lislevand)

The New York Times celebrates the ECM New Series with an in-depth article by David Weininger, interviewing Manfred Eicher.

"It is a search for something yet unknown, a fleeting, truthful moment, if you will," Manfred Eicher added. "The New Series, and ECM in total, is a cultural project, firstly, addressed to listeners who care about music.“
That, I think, is Eicher´s true achievement. By following stubbornly his own muse and those of a relative handful of especially creative musicians,
he reset the horizon of expectations for a record label. (David Weininger, The New York Times)

Listen to and order the album here: https://ecm.lnk.to/ADarkFlaring
A Dark Flaring marks the Signum Quartett’s impressive return to ECM’s New Series after debuting for the label with striking performances on Erkki-Sven Tüür’s acclaimed chamber music recording Lost Prayers (2020). Here, the quartet has put together a unique programme dedicated to six South African composers, born in the 20th century, whose works for string quartet are united by the way they blend respect for the past with an instinct for the future in a wide-flungidiomatic scope. Whether writing at home or abroad, all six composers reflect their country’s complex and troubled history through music which is strikingly original.

Sir András Schiff will be honoured with Japan’s "Praemium Imperiale" prize this year. The prestigious decoration is awarded in the categories of painting, sculpture, architecture, music, and theater/film.

This year’s laureates “all share a love of ‘making’ – whereby concept and craft come together to create artistry of the highest order”, according to the announcement.

The close collaboration between ECM, Manfred Eicher and Sir András Schiff goes back over 25 years, creating a discography that includes some of the most significant recordings of works by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Schumann and many more.

Schiff’s live recording of Bach’s Goldberg Variations will be released as a 2-LP vinyl edition for the very first time this autumn.

Signed vinyl-editions of Joe Lovano and the Marcin Wasilewski Trio´s new ECM recording "Homage" are available now exclusively on the JazzEcho website: https://tinyurl.com/jazzecho

Joe Lovano and his Polish conspirators from the Marcin Wasilewski Trio are endowed with an especially adventurous spirit on their second joint endeavour for ECM. Building on the lyrical strengths that inhabited the group’s previous recording (“Arctic Riff”, 2020), on Homage the quartet moreover investigates the type of free-flowing interplay and expansive passages of improvisation that have become a staple in Lovano’s ventures with his Trio Tapestry.
