Nublu Records Nublu Records started in 2005 in NYC and has established itself as a weighty curator and tastemaker in the independent music scene. The list goes on and on.

Nublu is a unique club and record label from the cultural epicenter of New York City, the East Village. There are three entities of the Nublu universe, a live music venue, a record label, and a recently launched Nublu Jazz Festival which has premiered in NYC, Sao Paul and Istanbul. The venue was birthed first in 2002. It started out as a place for like-minded musicians and artists to gather and si

mply play music together, recalling New York in its creative heyday of the 70's and 80's. Nublu has come a long way since its humble beginnings. The club has attracted the admiration of many people and has been touted everywhere from the New York Times to Paper magazine. It is no surprise to come across Lou Reed at the bar, Kevin Spacey or Jorge Ben hanging out, or Norah Jones dancing to Forro. Last year, Jovanotti, the Italian superstar, chose Nublu as the place for his residency. The venue was filled to over capacity for eight straight weeks. Legendary artists like, Gilberto Gil and David Byrne have also done secret shows, and Moby said he realized that he "had more fun DJ'ing records for 75 people at Nublu than going on tour and performing in front of 10,000 people a night" XLR8R Magazine (2008). The second arm of Nublu is the record label, which started in 2005 as a necessary outlet to release the music coming out of the club. The label now boasts a catalogue of over 50 releases, from music ranging from Brazilian acts 3 Na Massa, Otto and Forro in The Dark, to the jazz stylings of I Led 3 Lives and Nublu Orchestra, the indie pop of Hess is More and Wax Poetic. Between all of its entities, Nublu has established itself as a weighty curator and tastemaker in the independent music scene. There is no one sound to Nublu, just a vibe and a great selection. Nublu owner Ilhan Ersahin says it best, "We're just playing music."

Many thanks to Tone Arm and Sam Bradley for the feature on JMMR and interview w Jordan McLean that went up on their site today!

Here’s a little taste of the feature, “The Resistance’s music borders on the possibility of definition, where comparisons to Ornette Coleman and Alice Coltrane are uttered in the same breath as Death Grips or Aphex Twin. The opening track, “Virtue Signaling 139 BPM,” finds a groove that balances droniness with danceability. See their rendition of Can’s “Vitamin C” for a more linear, synthier take on their sound, paying homage to the krautrock greats. “Climate Wars 172 BPM” feels like a hypnotic theme song for a Hunter S. Thompson detective show.”

We are tremendously excited to bring you the first single “Didi” from Guri Assis Brasil as Animal Invisivel from his self titled debut instrumental solo album due out in March 2026.

In Guri’s own words about the track - “Didi” was written for a friend who once watched me play guitar at another friend’s house. I was trying to play Tom Jobim’s “Dindi,” but jokingly sang it using my friend’s nickname — “Didi.” That’s how the harmony and melody came about. It’s one of my favorites — one of the most harmonically complex and with huge potential to shine in live performances.

Thanks to radio FM4 in Vienna for airing the promo mix DJ HALO made of selected tracks from Nublu Dance! Not only that but, what a great review of the mix and tracks in the mix.

“Immerse yourself in 20 minutes of pure sonic alchemy with this masterfully crafted turntablist mix that presents the essential sounds of the Nublu Dance EP along with outstanding tracks from the Nublu Dance 45 series. This seamless journey weaves the dub-soaked rhythms of Love Trio’s “Lovers Rock” in the Deadbeat knockout version, the gripping Brazilian grooves of Forro in the Darks remixed by Quantic “Forrowest” and the hypnotic Istanbul Sessions reinterpretation of “Birds” by Kaan Duzarat. See Wax Poetic’s “Cihangir” blending into the electrifying in-flagranti version of I Led 3 Lives’ “Curious Red” as MKL’s reduced “Bar Star” heads for the climactic Underground Resistance Seventh Tunnel remix of Nublu Orchestra’s Sketches of NYC. Mixed with precise turntablist technique by international touring DJ HALO, this collection captures the raw, cosmopolitan energy that makes Nublus Dancefloor legendary - a sonic passport through global beats, underground house and the restless creative spirit of the New York music scene.”

Em inglês
The title track and opening salvo from Marcelo Callado’s forthcoming album, “Brado” (Portuguese for “cry” or “shout”) is a powerful declaration of agency and self-determination. Callado’s lyrics explore the tension between being a choice versus an option, between living authentically and merely existing—a meditation on autonomy that crescendos into collective affirmation with the repeated pronome nós (“the pronoun we”).

Musically, “Brado” showcases Callado’s multi-instrumental prowess on vocals, guitars, and drums, anchored by Paulo Emmery’s bass, synthesizer, and bells. Eduardo Manso layers guitars, Fender VI bass, and synth textures, while Thomas Harres adds additional guitar work, creating a rich sonic landscape that moves from introspective to anthemic.

This is Callado fully realized—not just as the rhythmic architect behind Brazilian music legends, but as an artist with urgent philosophical questions and the musical muscle to match. “Brado” announces an arrival: bold, necessary, and unapologetically human.

Early reviews are in and they are great!

Many thanks to EVL Magazine, You And The Music, Gerry Hectic for the kind words about this boundary pushing project.

“This 11 track album is amazing!  The cover version of CAN’s ‘hit’ ‘Vitamin C’ has already made this album the ‘must have’ this month but jazz-funk electronica with sophisticated punk has never been as pure as this; there’s even a spiriutal flute gang track ‘Igor Stravinsky’ featuring  Cochemea Gastelum (The DapKings) and Morgan Price (Ikebe Shakedown)”
