DON'T MISS THIS! Cinnamon rolls, history, great views. Experience life in the late 1800s at Log Cabin Days - Old Victoria Restoration near Rockland, MI
Yooper Steve Approved Experience
While you're there take a hike (1.5mi) to an awesome overlook view of the Victoria Reservoir and the old Victoria mine ruins on the North Country Trail. Make sure to also go check out the Victoria Dam and the falls if they are running.
Be sure to leave a small donation so they can continue to offer these events through the year and keep the buildings and grounds maintained.

Two people were found deceased on Isle Royale and cause of death hasn't been determined yet. Remember that Isle Royale is a very remote area of the country and medical help is far away.
You should always have some medical training like CPR and Wilderness first aid if you're going to be in the great outdoors often. Everyone should know the symptoms of hypothermia, how to splint a leg or arm when broken, how to stop bleeding, apply a tourniquet, and adminster CPR. You should always carry first aid kit for wilderness aid, pocket knife, 3 ways to start a fire, carry a poncho, reflective survival blanket, 25-50ft of paracord, whistle and signaling device, and a way to filter water and collect water.

HOUGHTON, MICH. – Late Sunday afternoon, June 8, at approximately 4:00 pm, park rangers at Isle Royale National Park received two separate reports of two persons found deceased at a remote backcountry campground within the park. Two rangers hiked overnight 11 miles to the campground to assess the ...

Illegal Tire Dumping
We were shocked—and furious—to learn that someone used a dump truck to abandon over 150 tires deep in the woods near Kinross, Michigan. These tires were found along an ATV trail and reported by local riders.

This kind of environmental destruction is unacceptable, illegal, and dangerous.

So here’s what we’re doing about it:
🧹 On Thursday, June 5th around 5:00pm, the team at U.P. Tire is stepping in—on our own time and our own dime—to clean it up.

🌲 We’re hauling out every last tire and making sure they’re disposed of safely and legally, using a certified disposal partner.

🦟 We’ll brave the mosquitoes. We’ll work until it’s done. Because it’s simply the right thing to do.

💡Did you know? U.P. Tire accepts used passenger tires off-rim for safe, legal disposal—just $5 per tire. There's no excuse for dumping.

📍To whoever did this: shame on you.

To the rest of the community: we’ve got your back.

To that end, U.P. Tire will be closing at 4:30pm on Thursday, June 5th in order to get to Kinross for this cleanup.
