Picture that much drinkable water going to servers when it could be filling glasses and watering crops.

Here's what the tech industry doesn't want to say. People lived for thousands of years without a single AI data center. Nobody has ever lived without clean water.

Only one of these is optional.

Why are there more news articles about the new folding iPhone than the record smashing ocean heat?!

The Pacific is running 1.8°C above normal right now and forecasters think it could blow past 2.5°C. The old record, that monster from 1982-83, sat at 2.4°C. Underneath the surface it's worse. Parts of the Pacific were more than 8°C above normal in July and early August, a heat reservoir just waiting to surface.

New Order Mandates Local Green Light for Massive Data Centers in Mass

assachusetts just gave communities a powerful say over whether large data centers can move forward.

Gov. Maura Healey’s new executive order requires data centers with peak electricity demand above 25 megawatts to secure local approval before state agencies advance their permits.

Developers must also meet state standards covering water, air quality and community engagement, while providing their own clean-energy supply or paying fees that protect ratepayers. Projects must submit a community benefits agreement developed with local stakeholders.
