Our condolences 🙏to all the family of Ziad Rahbani زياد الرحباني who passed to glory January 1956 – 26 July 2025 was a Lebanese composer, pianist, playwright, and political commentator. He was the son of Fairouz, one of Lebanon and the Arab world's most famous singers, and Assi Rahbani, one of the founders of modern Arabic music. Many of his musicals satirize Lebanese politics both during and after the Lebanese Civil War, and are often critical of the traditional political establishment.

Please see the following circular from the Maronite Bishops of the United States regarding a petition to demand for the repeal of Article 112 of the Current Lebanese Electoral Law.
This impacts all Lebanese nationals that are living outside of Lebanon.
This is not a political issue, rather a civil rights issue.

Shawarma, Lebanese / Middle East Roll Up Sandwich
Shawarma’s name comes from the Arabic word for “turning” – a reference to how this favorite Middle Eastern sandwich’s meaty filling cooks on a vertical spit. While there are many variations of this popular street food, its base is grilled spiced meat (usually chicken, lamb or beef) shaved from the rotisserie and rolled up pita bread, topped with things such as tomatoes, onions and parsley with tahini sauce.

LEBANON A SHORT TRUE STORY.
THIEVERY, BRIBERY AND DISHONESTY
THE CORRUPTION OF RELATIVES AND GOVERNMENT.

The 1975 civil war in Lebanon forced our family to abandon their home and property. We lost everything, our belonging, valuables, money and memories. With borrowed money we had to seek safety in another country. First it was France where we were welcomed and had obtained “carte de sejour” resident permit. We stayed in Paris for 3 years, each of our family, our mother and 4 of us, working in different jobs, maids, shop helpers, factory workers and baby sitters and we all lived together in a small studio apartment. Due to our hard and work ethic we managed to reestablish ourselves and had somewhat a normal life.

Lucky for us, our older brother the year before the war immigrated to the United States to establish a Lebanese Jewelry export and import business which he had to abandon due the war in Lebanon. Our brother had to reverse course and establish himself by taking different jobs including managerial ones.

In 1978 we all immigrated to the United States and joined our brother. Some of us went back to college and worked part time and the others worked full-time. Within a short time we opened our own businesses, bought homes, got married and some had children and some became ones of the wealthiest in the country. 3 years ago we lost our mother at the age of 91. Most of us did not visit Lebanon since our escape to safety due to the changes of our friends and relatives’ value and behavior, the corruption and politics of Lebanon.

What happen to our properties you ask?
We owned a home and many properties in our village. Due to some oversight on our father and mother side our property was contested by my aunts on our father’s side (our father did not register and transfer the property that he bought from his father within the 10 years’ grace period to his name. Therefore one of his 3 sisters ( a real bitch who died of multiple health problem later, became penniless after she spent thousands of dollars on medical bills) challenged his ownership and started a lengthy lawsuit which caused the death of our father by a heart attack inside the courthouse. The court judge ordered the discontinuation of the lawsuit until our youngest brother reach the age of 18 (was 7 years old at the time).

While the civil war was raging and we were living in the United States, the bad aunt with the help of her family bribed the village and government officials by forging testimonies and documents to divide the land. One aunt objected saying the properties belonged to our father, she died peacefully, but her 2 sons out of greed agreed with the bad aunt. The third aunt with her family just went along. They sold the land they divided to second and third parties to make it difficult to contest the thievery.

At the end of the 15 years civil war, 1995, we found out that most of our valuable properties were stolen and sold to strangers. The 2 greedy sons of our good aunt ,shortly after, both died 2 months apart by incurable cancer leaving their family in poverty.

When they divided the land they stole the most valuable parcels and sold them. Whatever parcels left we had to transfer them to our names. The process was at the Lebanese style. Bribes, difficulties and dishonesty. lawyers’s over charges, judges and government employees’ bribery. Everyone wanted a cut especially if they knew you live in America.

The families on our mother’s side were not any better. The 4 uncles and the son of one of our 2 aunts who stayed in Lebanon divided our grandfather’s properties without our consent or knowledge. We are still debating what to do with them. 2 of our uncles and 2 of our aunts died. 2 of the remaining uncles still living with multiple serious health conditions. Their families are doing okay.

Communications with the relatives on our father’s side are non existence. We know nothing about their families or how they look like.
Communications with The relatives on our mother’s side are limited, basically with their young offsprings.

Our relatives choose thievery and dishonesty instead of love and protection, but karma is not merciful. With God’s protection and our good fortune we could have been very helpful to all of them as we are to several charities.

God is within you, be good.
