Day 26 of is "Monochromatic". I don't go monochromatic very often, but one of my favorite wintery outfits is this red "thrift-flip" sweater, plaid skirt and a red beret, typically paired with red shoes.

Day 25 of is "Mix-n-Match". I can't remember whether I already shared this red 1940's winter set, but here it is again, paired with a thrifted yellow wool sweater. Yellow is one of my favorite colors, because it pairs so well with so many others!

Day 21 of is "Self Care". One of my favorite ways of relaxing and caring for myself is to set a tea tray near my favorite chair, sit down and pick away at a knitting project.

What do you like to do as "self care"?

Day 19 of is "Projects". This 1940's/1950's inspired mock-cable cardigan is my next project. I picked up several skeins of lovely red wool at a local damaged goods store a while back, and since I've found myself in need of a few basic wool cardigans for winter, I decided to write up a pattern and tackle one! The worsted weight yarn and the textured "cables" should make it very cozy to wear. ☺️

Unfortunately, because the store where I purchased the yarn was quite limited in stock, I wound up with a mixture of two or three dye lots. Aside from using one dye lot all the way through each individual piece, do you knitters have any other tips for making potential color variations less noticeable?

Day 18 of is "decades". These photos were taken a few years back, and show a mixture of decades with my true vintage sweater and recently (at the time) knit beret from a modern pattern. I love that I don't need to be locked into one decade in order to maintain my preferred vintage aesthetic!

I've been thinking about the coordinating flannel-lined jeans and blouse sets from the 1940's and 1950's (see last photo), and decided to make a set for myself! Check out last week's YouTube video, if you'd like to see the process.

I used a 1940's reproduction pattern (Simplicity 8447) for both items, altering the pants front to have deep slash pockets with vintage-y top stitching details. I drafted my own back pockets, and added some fun top stitching to them as well. The jeans are of course lined in cotton flannel, making them the softest, coziest pants that I own!

The blouse isn't anything too special, but I couldn't resist cutting a few pieces in the bias for some fun design elements.

I'd like to make another set one day, in a slightly more 1950's style well (tapered jeans)! It was certainly a fun project to cross off my list!
