It may still be in the 90s in Tulsa, 🥵 but this girl still needs some pho 🍜 to warm her soul on a wearisome Monday. I tried for the first time! You know you’ve reached a level of comfort with a friend when you’re ok eating pho in front of her … there’s just no ladylike way to do it. 🫣 New friendship level achieved. 👏🏆

I ❤️ Lanna Thai. It’s been a Tulsa staple since 1998, and honestly, not much has changed since then. And I’m perfectly fine with that, because that means their delicious 😋 Thai food and drinks are as amazing as ever. 💯

2025 is the Year of Coffee for these already ridiculously over-caffeinated friends who are calling themselves the Percolated Princesses in honor of these monthly coffee expeditions. 👸 Our stop this month was ☕️. Chimera has long been a favorite of mine, both for its exceptional coffee and for its equally delicious food options. I personally love the seats by the window, which not only offer fantastic morning light but also fun people watching opportunities. ☀️

We both tried one of the specials. Bernie tried the Salted Maple Latte, and I tried the Cardi B (orange and cardamom with milk and espresso … so good!). We shared a huge blueberry scone … highly recommend! 😋

Bernie even purchased dog treats (they are only $1 each!) for our dogs. 🐕 Rosie the Cavapoo was very grateful to Auntie Bern and is now begging me to take her to Chimera next time I go. 🥰

We absolutely love this coffee shop! ❤️

All right, folks, we only have 4 months left of the year! Where do we need to go?

What a fun little day trip we had to Claremore! My husband grew up there, but it had probably been 3 years since we had visited it. This Tulsa suburb is constantly growing. Plus you’ll find so much charm and history on a visit there. First, we enjoyed lunch at . An absolute MUST is the Baked Fudge … SO good! 😋

We stumbled upon Boarding House Books. I can’t recommend this used bookstore enough! The 100-year-old building was once the Ward Boarding House. If you’re a fellow bookworm 🤓, you will love exploring the many rooms in this unique bookstore. The staircase with painted book titles is so fun, too. Don’t miss the locked room with special collector/signed editions. 📖 👻

Before leaving Claremore, we made a stop at .co . I had a delicious iced latte, and my husband enjoyed his London Fog ☕️. The service there is always amazing, and what a great cause to support!

Such a fun little day trip!

Buffalo Burger along Route 66 ✅ 🤩

We really enjoyed our first time at ! If you’re doing the Oklahoma Route 66 Passports, count your lucky stars ⭐️, because this is one of the stops!

The Rock Cafe was built from rocks dug up in the construction of Route 66… how cool is that?! 🪨 And as you can see from 📸5, their grill is quite historic! 🔥

My husband and I both ordered the Buffalo Burger, made with locally farmed ground buffalo. You know it’s good when Guy Fieri said he could “seriously put down” more than one Buffalo Burger when he visited there!

Other menu highlights include homemade German spaetzle and jagerschnitzel. Our 8 year old obliterated a 1/3 pound cheeseburger 🍔 and fries, 🍟 and our 5 year old enjoyed his chicken bites kids’ meal.

Afterwards, we enjoyed a little corn hole outside. There are some really nice touches to this historic roadside cafe. For example, they invite guests to sign their guest book. And when you visit the bathroom, it feels like the guest book has been continued on the walls. 😜

We’ll be back! So glad we made it to Stroud for a very genuine Okie experience!

Trust me when I say is a new south Tulsa restaurant that you MUST try! It’s a small and intimate restaurant that is 💯 an amazing addition to the Tulsa sushi 🍱 scene.

For a starter, we tried the Spicy Garlic Edamame. This is no ordinary edamame. So so so good! I would go back just for this spicy take on the Asian classic starter.

We tried a number of maki (sushi rolls). Rainbow was one of my favorites. Disco and Crazy Linda were also notable!

The restaurant is named after Chef Nobu Terauchi, who opened Tulsa’s first sushi bar, Fuji’s, in 1986. Fuji’s closed in early 2024, making way for Mr. Nobu’s, which opened this spring.

Next time, we’ll book space at the 10-person private omakase-style sushi bar behind a secret paneled door (📸1). But either way, a meal at Mr. Nobu’s is sure to be unforgettable! We’ll be back soon!

In case you missed it, 2025 is the Year of Coffee ☕️ for Tulsa Places, when we’re highlighting a different Tulsa-area coffee shop each month. Naturally, we made it to ❤️. Topeca is known for its seed-to-cup ethos. Did you know that founder John Gaberino is seventh generation of the founding family? 🤯 No wonder so many local establishments in choose to brew Topeca! 💯

Bernie tried an espresso with a lavender poppyseed scone (📸 2), and I had a chai tea latte with a peach muffin (📸3). The drinks were hot and smooth, and the pastries were delicious. 😋

Topeca has three locations in the heart ❤️ of downtown Tulsa. We went to the Philcade Tower location. I love the history of that building but was sad to see that the lobby is inaccessible to visitors. The other Topeca locations are in the Vast Bank downtown lobby and Hyatt Regency lobby.

I recommend all of Topeca’s locations, and that you take a bag or three home 🏡 with you!

Well, the year is already officially more than halfway over… what coffee shops do we still need to hit up, Tulsans?
