Direct from Cripple Creek, Colorado! delivers a dazzling new retelling of Dickens’ beloved classic with “A Cripple Creek Christmas Carol,” running Nov. 21 to Dec. 7, 2025 . This production marks the premiere of the show outside of Cripple Creek, Colorado.

Written by Chris Sorensen and Chris Armbrister, with original score and music by James Mablin, this bold adaptation takes audiences to the legendary gold-mining town of Cripple Creek, Colorado.

Unlike any other “A Christmas Carol,” this production is reimagined with a Wild West twist. Character Bob Womack, the original 19th century founder of Cripple Creek, enlists Charles Dickens to rescue a miserly mine owner named Gooch. Through visits from Christmas Past, Present, and Future, Gooch must confront his greed, embrace community, and rediscover the true meaning of the season.

Barrington playwright Stephanie Alison Walker’s play, “Friends With Guns,” has opened with its Regional Premiere at The Den Theatre in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood. About the play: You think you know your friends, your neighbors, your spouse; but what happens when you suddenly find out they have a garage full of guns? This new dark comedy explores the complicated issue of gun proliferation when two young liberal couples are forced to confront their assumptions about who should own a gun and why. Barrington Children’s Charities, co-founded by Senator Darby Hills and her husband Tom Hills, is stepping up to help support local kids in need living in Barrington School District 220. With SNAP benefits disrupted, the charity is expanding its Packs of Plenty program, adding more food items to the weekend bags and stocking the Barrington High School pantry with additional essentials for students and families who need help.

The Village of Barrington invites you to its annual Veterans Day Ceremony at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at Veterans Memorial Park, located at the corner of Cook and Main Streets in downtown Barrington. The event will include remarks by local dignitaries, patriotic musical performances by Barrington High School Students, posting of the colors by the Barrington Fire Department Honor Guard, and a presentation of the Armed Forces service branches, honoring those who have served and are currently serving in the United States military. Speakers include Barrington Village President Mike Moran, Ruth Groth, Regent of the Signal Hill Chapter, DAR, and reps from the American Legion Post 158, including Jeff Curry, Brandon Tole, and Lieutenant Colonel Regina Stramaglio.
