I wrote a blog post about peer support, what I’ve learned about it and a few moments that have impacted me when we show up and create space for someone.

Here’s the link at The Do More Agriculture Foundation: https://www.domore.ag/wellness-tips/power-of-peer-support

What does peer support actually look like in agriculture?

In today’s Mental Health Week feature, The Do More Agriculture Foundation co-founder and farmer Lesley Kelly of High Heels and Canola Fields reflects on why showing up — even imperfectly — can make a meaningful difference.

Want to bring those conversations to your community? Apply to the Community Fund for Mental Health by May 20 and host a free Talk Ask Listen workshop in your agricultural community, sponsored by Farm Credit Canada.

The biggest investment in Saskatchewan is happening right now (or hopefully close depending on the snow and moisture).

And it happens each spring, across the province, right on family farms.

Behind it are real people making real decisions.

What to seed.
How much to invest.
How much risk to carry into a season no one can predict.

That $11 billion going into the ground each year isn’t just capital. It’s commitment, experience and a whole lot of trust in what the season might bring.

It’s a quiet kind of investment but one that touches all of us.

There’s still snow on the ground and it’s not the start many of us were hoping for.

But if there’s one thing farming teaches me, it’s patience and that things can change quickly this time of year. Looking back on pictures, we’ve been here before too.

If you’re feeling the stress or uncertainty, you’re not alone. There’s support out there and it’s okay to reach for it.

If you need it, check out the resources at domore.ag. They’re built for moments like this.

One day at a time. We’ll get there ❤️🌾

The longer I farm (which hasn’t been very long 🙃), the more I realize how much there is to learn.

How different each season is.
How complex it is with so many decisions to make every day.
How each decision has tradeoffs.
How we change, learn and adapt every year.
And how different it can look from one farm to the next.

Especially in a world where farming can be simplified on social media.

But the reality is, there’s no one way or right way to farm.

What do you think?
