Please be aware that the announcement for free musical instruments printed in this week’s edition of the Quitman Free Press is a SCAM.

The announcement was sent via e-mail to us by what we believed was a trusted source we have done business with on multiple occasions. The source contacted us following the paper’s printing to let us know their e-mail had been hacked and used to send out the scam.

Do not contact the number listed on the announcement, and do not send it any money.

SUBSCRIPTION REMINDER:
We would like to remind subscribers that due to substantial price increases by the United States Postal Service, the Quitman Free Press has had to increase subscription rates, which took effect on March 1. All print Quitman Free Press subscription rates have been updated. Here are the new annual rates:

• In-County: $35
• Out-of-County: $40
• Out-of-State: $45
• Senior Rate (In-County, age 65+): $24

Please note: The senior discount eligibility age has changed to 65 years old. Subscribers who were already receiving the senior discount will be grandfathered in. On the latest subscription renewal notice, there was an error that stated the senior rate was $20. That was incorrect. It is now $24.

We appreciate your continued support and understanding as we adjust to these rising mailing costs. Thank you for being a loyal reader of the Quitman Free Press!

Everyone come join us for Georgia Cities Week. Saturday we will be cleaning up the streets. Meet us at 9:00 AM at the Court House Square to particiapte. Dumpster locations for drop offs will be posted later today. NO TIRES OR BATTERIES will be accepted. Safety vest and supplies will be provided.
