The third entry for our Halloween Special comes from a 3rd-Year student and CSG volunteer. Letโ€™s uncover the chilling experience he encountered in the schoolโ€™s basement โ€” where shadows tell stories of their own.

The story you are about to read is based solely on the senderโ€™s personal experience. It is shared for entertainment purposes only and does not reflect the publicationโ€™s views or the schoolโ€™s safety.

"Hi, I am a 3rd year [Education] student also volunteer sa CSG and I would like to share my experience with CSG office located sa MS [Basement] and also among personal experience sa MS lobby so let start HAHAHAH

Way back when I'm 2nd year student and also first time nako mag volunteer sa isa ka organization sa school and pinaka dako pud na organization sa school I had my first experience sa amoang office sa CSG sa [MS Basement] beside sa dark room and Muslim prayer room, we had this one night na grabe ka busy because preparation to siya sa isa ka event sa school, so naabtan mig 11 or 12 to siya sa office namo, and so sa ka busy namo and wala nami ka bantay sa oras ato, so naka decide mi na manguli na and kay [gabie] na kaayo and suddenly naka smell ko og kanang baho na humot kaayo and dili ma describe kung unsa siya na baho but humot jud siya like as in.

So mao to I'd like you to know na ang bata na inyohang makita sa basement og sa lobby, si Remini na and also makakita mo diha sa lobby og guard na walay dagway HAHAHAHAHA"

According to the sender, they named the ghost child โ€œReminiโ€ because of its blurry and indistinct face.

Our second entry comes from a Grade 12 student who experienced something truly spine-chilling during Welcome Week earlier this year. What started as an ordinary day quickly turned unsettling โ€” and the most terrifying part happened on the 5th floor.

The story you are about to read is based solely on the senderโ€™s personal experience. It is shared for entertainment purposes only and does not reflect the publicationโ€™s views or the schoolโ€™s safety.

"My family has roots in mediumship, and I am also a medium. To quickly explain, a medium is someone who senses a special connection with the dead or with spirits that roam around. There are two classifications of spirits: the Good and the Evil. Ever since I began encountering the unseen, it has always been good spirits that I see, reaching out to communicate with me.

Skipping ahead, it was during the welcoming day for Grade 12 (this year), when loud music filled the campus. I arrived early and went to check my room on the 5th floor. Though I'm familiar with heading to these floors, something felt off that day. The air was heavy, and I felt like I was suffocatingโ€”especially on the stairs connecting the 4th and 5th floors. There was a strange chill in the air, even though the rest of the building felt warm. It was like stepping into a draft of freezing air that wasnโ€™t supposed to be there. As usual, I brushed it off, but during the program, I couldnโ€™t stay still. I kept feeling like cold fingers were grazing my skin, even in the midst of the noisy crowd. It felt as though someone was watching me, waiting for me. This was new to me; as I mentioned, I've only encountered good spirits. But this? This felt strange and dark. I was puzzled that something so unsettling could contrast with a loud and lively event.

Trying to shake it off, I climbed up to the seventh floor for fresh air. Yet, once again, I sensed something following me. I could almost hear faint whispers, though I couldnโ€™t make out the words. The air felt thick, as if something was trying to keep me from breathing freely. Thatโ€™s when I realized it wasnโ€™t a good spirit. I rushed downstairs, but something stopped me on the 5th floor, near the computer lab, on the stairs. It was at that exact spot that I felt nauseous, like a chill sinking into my bones. As I descended to the 4th floor, I felt something holding me back. When I looked back, I saw a spiritโ€”a student, sitting on the stairs like any student might. She wasnโ€™t covered in blood, so I suspected she had died violently but in a different way.

Spirit or not, she could be harmful if neglected, so I tried talking to her. Her responses were nothing more than faint whispers, like rustling leaves, and she remained silent after that. I told myself, โ€œresulta nanis bilar,โ€ and went back to the school grounds. It was a creepy experience, and I still see her every day when I head to my room. Sheโ€™s so pure and silent now that it feels almost normal to see her around".

Our first entry comes from an anonymous sender, a Batch 2019 graduate who once shifted from Accountancy to Communication. Her chilling experience took place during her second year as a BS Accountancy student, at the 3rd floor of the Main North Building.

"Back in my college days, this was around 2016 di ko karemember na sa month, we were tasked to perform a variety show for our subject showcasing our various talents. Since we have about 20 members in our group we need to practice a lot para dili yagaw among performance sa final day. In our variety show, we have a segment where will dance the song entitled "Let Me Take a Selfie". During our last & final practice the night before our final performance, naa me sa isa ka classroom nagpractice while ang uban namo gamit is naa sa atbang nga room since need namo ipang sibog ang chairs for more space. We were supposed to practice until 9pm adto para maperfect gyud namo ang flow sa amo show. However, around 8pm in the middle sa amo practice naay weird nga nahitabo. During sa part na sayawon na namo ang Let Me Take a Selfie one of my classmates will raise his phone as if to take a picture. Kaso pagsaka niya sa iya phone nitunga ako name gapanawag so nayagaw me. Iya kong giduolan and asked me why daw gapangbulabog ko calling him during our practice imbis na gaseryoso me. I told him wala sa akoa akong phone the whole time nagpractice kundili naa sa other room kung asa among mga gamit. So dili sya mutoo kay knowing walay tao didto. Niadto me sa pikas room and gikuha akong phone. Gitan-aw namo ang call logs nako wala gyud ko nanawag nya adtong adlawa or even the day before. Texts noon naa pero call wala. So gicheck namo iya call logs again naa man gyud dadto nakabutang ang time, date tas ako number & name. So naweirdan me pero gibaliwala lang namo and nagpadayun me practice kay basin og glitch lang or unsa ba. Pagbalik namo sa pikas room naa ko mafeel nga naa gatan-aw sa amo from the other room since atbang ra man kaayo sya. Wala lang ko pero lain na sa feeling. So mao to practice me sayaw sayaw tas modeling napud na part. So ang position is maglaray me girls mga around 10 man guro mi adto kabuok na babae. Gaatubang mi sa window so since gabii naman makita gyud namo amo reflection sa glass sa window. Ako gyud ginabantayan ako mga kauban na magdungan mi og paso while gatan-aw sa reflection namo. So while garampa me natingala dayun ko kay naay isa wala nidungan sa amoa as in nagtindog ra sya and nakawhite di kaayo nako maklaro iyang nawong kay medyo blurry. So gilingi nako kinsay wala nisabay. Natingala kayko kay wala gyuy nabilin. Tas wala puy nakawhite sa amoa. Puros mi colored shirt. So ana ko sa ila dalian na namo og human ang practice kay lain na ako feeling. Ako na lang dayun sila gistoryahan sa flow sa show utro. So mao to nagdali dali nami og panghipos sa among mga gamit. Dali dali na sila kay wa pa sila ka get over pud sa katong tawag ganina nya gakafeel pud diay to nilang murag naa gatan-aw from the other room. Sa pag dali dali nila nakalimot sila sa akoa. Naulahi man ko kay need nako ipangsira among mga gipanggamit na rooms and need pud nako e make sure nga limpyo before me manlakaw. Ako wala ra sa akoa kay abi nako naa pa sila sa hallway kay naa man ko madunggan nga gastorya storya. Paggawas nako wala nay tao. So nag agpas ko og baklay tas naog sa stairs. Naa diay mi sa 3rd flr adto. So dapat pag naog nako 2nd flr na. However, kaduha nako ninaog og stairs peros sige ra gyud kog balik sa akong agi. 3rd flr ra gyud gyapon permi. Nahadlok nako kay pila nalang ka minutes 9pm na mamalong na og suga ang guards. Grabe na gyud nakong pray na unta sa akong ikatulong naog sa stairs mouswag na gyud ko. Gladly akong isa ka classmate katong gitawagan sa ako number kay nakabantay nga wala ko nila nasabay og gawas sa gate nibalik og saka and giapas ko. So mao to pagnaog gyud nako nakita na gyud nako sya. Gitan-aw dayun nako unsay nakabutang sa floor plan and nakita nako nga 2nd flr na. Nigaan na ako pamati. Nagsabay na dayun me og naog. When I got home, I immediately went to bed after changing clothes kay gikapoy gyud kaayo ko adto na day. Akong phone naa ra sa akong bag wala ko kagunit the whole night adto kay nakatulog nako. Pagmata nako sa morning natingala ko kay naay 3 ka missed calls gikan sa mama sa ako boyfriend adto that time tas 2 missed call from my boyfriend. I wondered unsa ila tuyo so I called them back asking unsay tuyo ana sila nanawag daw ko kalima sa ila numbers kadlawong dako. From 12 am to 4 am daw. Kibali in every hour manawag ko kaisa. Abi daw nila naa emergency kay ngano daw nanawag ko kadlawon so they tried calling me pero di man daw ko gatubag so wala rapud daw sila. So ako nga tulog the whole night natingala kayko kay wala ko".

"What one responder could do when something catastrophic arises?"

Last October 8-10, 2025, PHINMA-COC'S Junior and Senior Nursing Students demonstrated their Nursing Disaster Simulation as part of their curriculum activity in NUR 114 and NUR 218 or the Disaster Nursing and Nursing Leadership and Management, respectively.

The faculty and staff of College of Allied Health Sciences of PHINMA-Cagayan de Oro College teamed up with the City Government and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office of Cagayan de Oro in showcasing the Nursing Students' skills and practical knowledge in responding emergencies during catastrophic incidents involving mass casualties in response to the recent calamities like the previous magnitude 6.9 earthquake that happened in Bogo, Cebu and the recent 7.6 magnitude earthquake in Davao Oriental area.

In an unexpected turn of events, a few number of students have fainted during the simulation due to maximum heat temperatures in Rio de Oro Boulevard but the stand-by ambulance provided by the City Government was already ready to the rescue.

This simulation showed the spectators that anyone, whether a nurse or a simple bystander if only equipped with proper training and knowledge in terms of responding to mass incidents can save lives in whatever way possible.

It takes more than discipline to juggle heavy responsibilitiesโ€”it takes sleepless nights, unshakeable focus, and sometimes, a strong willingness to spread yourself thin. At least, that's what I keep telling myself to stay in check. Being a college student while serving as a student leader is no easy task. Keeping my grades, my reputation, and my sanity perfectly balanced feels almost impossible.

As if these weren't enough, I also work part-time to keep myself afloat. I'm grateful for my scholarship, but I don't want to burden my parents, especially when I see how hard they're working. I know many students can relateโ€”asking for more while watching your family struggle isn't something for the faintest of heart. So, I push myself to do my best, even if it means trading my sleep for survival. Some nights, I wonder if my hair will give out before I do. Hopefully not!

Last month tested every ounce of my energyโ€”it was both Org Fest and exam week. For those who don't know, Org Fest is when students explore different organizations on campus and decide which one to join. It's also the time when every group gets to showcase themselves, recruit prospect members, and prove exactly why their organizations matter.

As an officer, I spent hours at our booth, welcoming curious students and answering their endless questions. Honestly, it wasn't as draining as I expected. There's something so exciting about talking animatedly about our org's vision and imagining how many more people could help bring those goals to life. In those moments, my exhaustion was replaced by prideโ€”and it's the good kind.

The blood, sweat, and tears, are proof of the hard work my colleagues and I endured for a successful run. Sometimes it gets overwhelming, but seeing and tasting the fruits of that labor reminds me why I chose to join in an organization in the first place. Some people say it's better to only focus on the academics, but I believe there is nothing detrimental with extracurriculars as long as you're able to balance it well.

Maybe there's someone out there struggling, doubting whether the responsibilities they carry are worth it. To that person, I'd say: if it makes you happy, it helps others, and it harms no one, what's the big deal? A few sleepless nights now are nothing compared to the experiences and memories of a fulfilling college journey. It might take some time to see beyond the rain for now, but like they sayโ€”after the storm, there's always a rainbow!

More than the medals and titles, the Organizational Festival Weekโ€™s culmination on September 26, 2025, at the Phinma Hall Grounds honored the dedication, creativity, and collective heartbeat of student organizations that kept the campus spirit alive.

The program, which began at 11 A.M., gathered students, faculty, and organization members for an afternoon of recognition and celebration. It marked the crowning moment of a week filled with cheerful competitions, spectacular performances and talents, proving once again the strength of student involvement in shaping campus life.

The Booth Display Competition brought out artistry and innovation, with the Hospitality Tourism Management Student Body Organization emerged as champion. The Department of Architecture Student Body Organization secured second place, while the Business Administration Student Body Organization came in third.

Equally creative was the Bulletin Board Competition, where the College of Information Technology took the top spot. The College of Allied Health Sciences and the College of Engineering and Architecture earned second and third place, respectively. In the Project Proposal Competition, fresh ideas flourished as the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants, Junior Financial Institute, and City Scholar Association claimed the top three spots.

The most anticipated highlight, the Clash of Rusicals, lit up the stage with vibrant performances blending music, dance, and storytelling. The College of Engineering and Architecture triumphed as champion, followed by the College of Allied Health Sciences in second and the College of Education in third.

Yet , beyond the applause and awards, the festival carried a deeper message. Like The Greatest Showmanโ€™s anthem of belonging and daring to shine, the Organizational Festival Week reminded students that extracurricular activities are more than competitions โ€” they are opportunities to grow, to lead, and to stand proud together.

As the curtains fell on this yearโ€™s festival, what lingered were not only the names of winners but the shared memory of a community coming alive in one spectacular show. For the PHINMA student body, the greatest performance was not on the stage or the boards, but in the unity, passion, and resilience they created together.
