🕊️Losing three people in three months has been tough. This time it was different because I knew. I felt that Eric was getting ready to transition weeks ago without him telling me.

I prepared myself the best way that I could. But nothing could prepare me for losing one of the most brilliant minds I’ve had the pleasure of knowing. Yeah, he would call me until I answered but it was something that I learned to love.

His unwavering support of me and my family (he even took the time to meet my mum when she was in Philly on business— and he didn’t feel well) meant the world. The man had a circle driveway which meant that you were rich (in my mind as a child).

Eric was rich in so many ways— love, life, style and intelligence.

He was one of a few people that I’ve met in this life with sense. He always told me that life is too short and it truly is. Though I’ll never hear “Ms. Nathan” the way that he said it again, I have an incredible set of memories to boot.

Autism Awareness Month isn’t just about understanding—it’s about action. And no one embodies that more than Camille Proctor, Founder and Executive Director of The Color of Autism Foundation.

When Camille’s son was diagnosed with autism in 2008, she quickly realized that Black families like hers were being left out of the conversation. Instead of accepting the gaps in support and resources, she built a bridge—one that has since connected countless African American families to life-changing advocacy, education, and policy reform.

From advising Hollywood on authentic autism representation to shaping global conversations through Nigeria’s Annual Autism Conference, Camille is a thought leader who makes an impact. Her recent appointment to the Interagency Autism Coordinating Committee (IACC) ensures that diverse voices are heard at the national level, influencing autism policy in real time.

🤍This week, my heart feels a little heavier. I lost someone truly special—a man who wasn’t just a co-worker, but a guiding light in the lives of so many, including mine.

Growing up without a father figure left a gap in my life, a gap I didn’t think could be filled. But then I would meet figures throughout my life that filled the gap. LC, in his own quiet, steady way, he bridged that space. He had this uncanny ability to deliver the perfect one-liners, the kind that made you laugh but also made you think. His wisdom was rooted in a life well-lived, and he never hesitated to share it.

He wasn’t just there for the good days; he was there on the hard ones too. He would let me vent, listen without judgment, and then offer advice that came from a place of genuine care and life-earned perspective.

I’ll miss his jokes, his stories, and the way he could make even the heaviest moments feel lighter. He was proof that family isn’t always about blood—it’s about who shows up for you, who sees you, and who believes in you.

Rest easy, LC. Your wisdom, your humor, and your spirit will live on in all the lives you’ve touched. I’ll carry your words, (some unedited) with me always.
