Why aren’t we turning abandoned malls into affordable housing communities for young people just starting out with affordable studio and efficiency apartments, and larger units for roommates or young families.
Keep the food courts and movie theaters. Keep a few storefronts for groceries, a pharmacy, a general store, various medical needs, etc. The rest of the stores can be converted into apartments.

or we could just churn out more of the same eye sores popping up everywhere for $2k a mo

The Amish that went down to NC to rebuild after Hurricane Helene are STILL there repairing Chimney Rock. No one is paying them. They don’t ask for press. They’re just there to help.

Groceries in your house, a family who loves you, a car to drive, a place to call home, friends who keep it real… be grateful for it all.

a friend text me that he and his family went back in time this weekend. Not literally, they stopped at a random Pizza Hut on the way back from the beach and it was untouched by time; red cups for beverages, light fixtures, jukebox, an old table Pac-Man game it even had table cloths, and a salad bar.

My son has been thinking a lot about college lately. Coaches keep asking him what he wants to do and what he wants to major in during college. I told him ‘having an idea is nice, but you’re only 16 dude, stop wondering about what you want to do with your life. It’s kinda silly to be so tuned in at your age honestly. Trust me, one day, you’ll know what I mean, but my advise to you is, try everything until you find the one thing that makes you forget to eat. The thing that makes you lose track of time. The thing that keeps you up at night because you keep having ideas that keep popping into your head. When you find “that” give everything you have to it”

Boone NC officials have confirmed that 62 members of the Pennsylvania Amish community have completed the construction of 12 tiny homes in under 48 hours. The total cost of the project was over $300,000, all of which was donated by the Amish community.

That’s the type of story I needed to read going into 2025.

Wishing everyone a safe and glorious New Year.

My friend posted this in her story and it’s so true. Every morning is a fresh start, a blank canvas to shape our thoughts and actions. Beginning the day by inviting gratitude and humility into our minds can transform not only how we see the day ahead but also how we respond to it. This practice keeps us grounded, helps us appreciate the present moment, and reminds us that we don’t have to carry the weight of everything alone. Setting our minds right first thing in the morning is the foundation for a day filled with purpose, peace, and clarity.

Let’s choose gratitude over worry and humility over pride today. Let’s make room for the divine to lead us before we lead ourselves.

Have a great day everybody

As I reflect on the end of 2024, I’m reminded of something I wrote back in January 2022, during one of the lowest points in my life. It was a time when I felt emotionally drained and disconnected, coming out of a breakup that had shattered my sense of stability. In many ways, that reflection feels eerily relevant today.

Here’s what I wrote:

“If I ever get around to living again…”

Back then, I used this phrase as a way to confront my emotions head-on. I was grappling with the heavy toll the previous year had taken on me, wrestling with anger, sadness, and anxiety—feelings that felt so overwhelming at times they threatened to consume me.

But here’s the truth: feeling those emotions is not just normal; it’s healthy. Pain, loss, and uncertainty are unavoidable parts of life. What matters most is how we choose to respond. Do we let those emotions define us, or do we face them, process them, and keep moving forward?

The ability to move through pain without becoming stuck in it is called resilience. And resilience is not something we’re born with—it’s a skill that takes conscious effort to build and maintain. Back in 2022, I realized how much I needed to focus on that skill, along with other areas of my life that had felt unsteady.

I made a promise to myself to focus on six key areas:

1. Build resilience – to face challenges with strength and grace.

2. Live with purpose – instead of winging my way through everything.

3. Cultivate happier, healthier relationships – both personally and professionally.

4. Master emotional intelligence – to better understand myself and others.

5. Challenge my own beliefs – to grow and learn from discomfort.

6. Set achievable goals – to become the kind of person I aspire to be.

As I sit here at the close of 2024, I find myself revisiting those same principles. The year felt like an emotional roller coaster—full of highs and lows, lessons and losses. But now, it’s time to step off the ride. To ground myself. To take what I’ve learned and use it to build a life that feels more intentional, balanced, and fulfilling.

This week’s podcast episode is about exactly that: getting off the roller coaster and finding steady ground. Life will always have its ups and downs, but how we navigate those twists and turns defines who we become.

I hope you’ll join me as I dive into these reflections, share my journey, and explore how we can all work toward living with more purpose, resilience, and grace.
