Happy National Tequila Day!

12/07/2026

I visited with the alamoanglers crew. Great shop, great people and fun crowd shopping in the store. Stop by and say hello. They have a hosted trip coming up to Rocky Point Lodge, coming up in October.

The Great Experiment continues! Happy Independence Day and Happy 250th Birthday. Freedom isn’t free.

How's this for An egregious example of hotspotting? Slipped in a few minutes on the DSP with Richard P. Magill this morning.

Gotta admit, it's a mildly surreal spot. It's like the Juan and a salt flat merged next to a playground.

Quick run up to RMNP last night to fish and hang with James Wade. Watch this space - James is working on some cool ideas, and we'll be publishing a full interview with him later this fall. Good people, good places, good fish, good stuff.

I've been hitting the grassie scene hard lately, and they're incredibly frustrating. I spooked a whole pod last night with an impure thought while still in the car during the drive to the bayou.

But I did finally find one cooperative (or just dumb) fish. Thanks to Scott Fly Rods for letting us demo the 8'4" Sector 6wt, and to Old Mariner Reels for the Stream Dream. Solid combo for this game and many others!

Six hours of sightfishing to grassies on the flooded fringes today, and not even a follow. But at least I made a friend!
