The SPC has upgraded the severe weather threat to a Slight Risk for Monday. The better chances to see severe weather will be in East Texas with large hail, damaging winds and a low end isolated tornado threat. Since Bell County is in the upgraded risk I would encourage you to keep an eye to the sky and I will keep you updated as better details come in.

LANDFALL HAS BEGUN - Reminder: A hurricane doesn’t officially make true landfall until the center of the eye moves over land.

Melissa’s outer eyewall is now hitting the coast — the next hour will bring the most extreme conditions yet.

Currently: Melissa is starting to make landfall with 185 mph sustained winds, wind gusts up to 215mph, and a pressure of 892mb.

🇯🇲⚠️ Jamaica is in the path of history today.
Hurricane Melissa has strengthened into a catastrophic Category 5, packing sustained winds near 180 mph and gusts over 200 mph. The storm’s core- a compact, violent eyewall almost ten miles wide - is now closing in on the island.

Conditions are already deteriorating: destructive winds, extreme storm surge, and widespread flooding are all expected. The scale of this storm is almost beyond words - one of the most intense ever recorded in the Caribbean.

Jamaicans have prepared as much as anyone can, but nothing truly prepares you for a direct hit from something like this. Keep them in your thoughts. 🙏
