My flower gardens are just as important to me as my vegetable garden.
Sure, flowers don’t fill my freezer or stock my pantry, but they feed something just as important.
They bring in pollinators that help my fruits and vegetables thrive. They attract beneficial insects that help keep pests under control. They provide food for bees, butterflies, and other wildlife that are all part of a healthy ecosystem.
But beyond that, they feed my heart.
In a world that constantly tells us everything has to be productive, flowers remind me that beauty has value too. They give me a reason to slow down, notice the seasons changing, and appreciate the little things. Also nothing is more fun than taking your little girls to go pick flowers every single day during the summer. 💜
Not everything on a homestead has to serve a practical purpose. Sometimes it’s enough that it brings joy.
So yes, I’ll always make room for flowers right alongside the tomatoes, peppers, and beans. 🌸🤍
