Kaihalulu Beach gets its deep red color from the iron rich lava cliffs surrounding it. It was formed by ancient volcanic activity over time.

In Hawaiian, “Kaihalulu” translates to “roaring sea”.

The area is located near the birthplace of Queen Ka‘ahumanu, Hawaii’s favorite queen and the wife of King Kamehameha I.
