Findhorn Village Fair was a great success, and the sun came out to save the day!

There was entertainment for all ages throughout the afternoon, including live music from members of the Forres Accordion and Fiddle Club with music and singing from Neil Robertson.

In addition to the raffle and wheel of fortune, there were numerous stalls, a BBQ selling burgers and hot dogs and afternoon teas provided by Findhorn Scottish Women’s Institute.

The plant stall was particularly popular as was the ‘Made in Findhorn’ stall, which sold a wide range of products all crafted in Findhorn.

Captain's Campers is the latest venture from the Findhorn couple, who already own a 'parade' of businesses along the shore, including the popular Captains Table and North 58 Sea Adventures.

Police are appealing for information following a fatal crash in which two women died and a teenage girl was airlifted to hospital from the A96 near Forres earlier today.

Around 3.05pm, a collision involving two cars and a HGV occurred on the A96 at the junction of Kinloss Road, Forres.

Two women, aged 48 and 56, who were travelling in a black Vauxhall Mokka died at the scene, and a 15-year-old passenger in this car was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where she is being treated for her injuries.

The driver of the HGV and occupants of the VW Golf were physically uninjured.

The A96 between Forres and Brodieshill remains closed (at 9pm) and members of the public are advised to avoid the area.

Sergeant Lesley Morrison at Road Policing in Elgin said: “We would like to speak to anyone who witnessed this tragic crash or anyone who has dashcam footage of it.”

Anyone with information should contact police at Road Policing at Elgin via 101 quoting incident number 2003 of Monday, 28 July 2025.

Our thoughts are with the relatives.

28/07/2025

UPDATE: Road has reopened 8am 29 July.

⚠️ A96 is closed in both directions between Forres and Brodieshill due to an RTC.

Follow diversions and allow extra time for your journey as traffic is heavy.

Forres businesses have joined forces with an artistic couple to produce a map of the town centre.

Ewen Watson and Sathya Schlösser have printed and distributed leaflets called 'A Day Out in Forres' after local business owners Laura Hanson (Babalu, Forres) and John and Dörte McPhun from Under the Leaves came up with the idea.

The couple created the popular children's book Fantastic Forres and Sathya's artistic style is used to illustrate the shop frontages.

Pick up a copy in any of the participating shops or download it from www.visitforres.scot
