The End of the Village of Spring Valley? Petition Filed to Dissolve Village Government

After years of chaotic government that has had Mayors and trustees arrested, regular exposes about the current Mayor on NYC news channels, residents are now pushing for the Village to be dissolved. The almost 3,000 petitions are now being reviewed by the Village Clerk to verify the authenticity and validity of the signatures. It will then be on the ballot in the upcoming general election this November, allowing residents to make the choice.

Similar to the Village of South Nyack which dissolved in 2022, the village must then create and adopt a formal dissolution plan. We are told that the Town of Clarkstown would take over services in the part of the Village of Spring that is in Clarkstown (approximately 10 percent), and the Town of Ramapo for the rest. The dissolution process can take up to two years.
