Victorian Bull Terrier Rescue Inc. is a not-for-profit organisation working to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome Bull Terriers. [email protected]

VBTR is a non-profit, volunteer run organisation in, but not exclusive to, Victoria Australia. We are dedicated to rescuing bull terriers left homeless for whatever reason. We strive to work with area shelters and other rescue and humane organisations to develop a network of supporters and volunteers in order to create a better world for homeless bully’s. We place dogs in loving, responsible, comm

itted permanent homes, following a comprehensive adoption/fostering process which includes taking considerable care in finding good matches and educating prospective adopters about the responsibilities and costs of bringing a bull terrier into their homes and lives. VBTR will continue to hold their famous Bully day outs and fundraising activities which includes auctions, raffles, functions. We welcome you to join us in helping to provide a better life for the Bully's in need. VBTR are always looking for help in fostering, transporting, house checks, donations and most importantly by spreading the word.

🤩 Well, the kind people at VBTR have me participating in a boarding program where I get to train daily, and help me become the bestest boy and learn some manners 👏🏼

I’m enjoying my stay here and getting plenty of exercise and interaction.
I’m so clever and respond so well to structured training and learning new commands!

Introducing 11yr old mini Bull Terrier…… ♥️BRUNO♥️

This most handsome senior boy is looking for a safe and quiet home to see out his final years in the luxury he deserves 🙌🏻

Surrendered due to no fault of his own, Bruno has been living the Shelter life 🥺
He has recently undergone some extensive veterinary care and is now ready immediately to be rehomed!

Please help us break him free 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

♥️ He is a very spritely, friendly and happy boy, with lots of pep in his step!
He does quickly get very excited around other dogs, his little helicopter tail wagging like he’s going to take off 🚁

Bruno will require some regular medications for some pretty routine “senior years” conditions and his new family will have full support of rescue for this.

His favourite thing is food 🤭 and loves to keep busy with his snuffle mat.

Bruno’s ideal new home:
✅ needs to be available to take him to regular vet appointments.
✅ preferably someone home the majority of the time.
✅ has a secure backyard (Bruno is said to be an escape artist). It is also unknown as to whether he is house/toilet trained, so an apartment with no yard will not be suitable.
✅ a home with other pets considered upon application.
✅ committed to working with VBTR on a long term basis to ensure Bruno’s needs are met.

❤️🐾❤️🐾 REX UPDATE ❤️🐾❤️🐾

As you may have seen on the weekend, our darling boy Rex underwent an emergency surgery to have large slices of basketball removed from his stomach and part of his intestine that had been perforated as the chunks finally started to pass over 9 months after he consumed it 🥺

We just wanted to let all his wonderful supporters know that Rex is doing really well 😃😃😃

He is past the most critical point of his recovery, and done his first magical poo 💩 (yes, this is something we celebrate after surgeries like this)

Rex has a fair way to go to get back to full health, but so far so good 🙌🏻 🙏🏼

VBTR this month are participating in the Grill'd Local Matters Program, at their Doncaster store

👉🏼 The way this program works is that Grill'd Doncaster will have 3 jars out in their store for the whole month of August with 3 different organisations names on the front (including one with ours) 😃

The organisation with the most tokens at the end of the month gets 💲3️⃣0️⃣0️⃣

“It must be so nice patting dogs all day” …….yes, yes it would! But this is not a pet store, this is rescue! ❤️‍🩹

Let us talk to you about how our Friday unfolded……

☎️ A call from a wonderful foster carer to say “something is terribly wrong with Rex”…..
Constant vomiting, stretching uncomfortably, whining, hunched over in pain and a sudden decline into shivering and wincing in pain when examined by the vet he had been rushed to, and basically carried from the car because he was so unwell.

The more we heard, the greater our concerns for pancreatitis or blockage!

🤔 His history? …..Rex has been with us since November 2024, and has had an extensive medical history.
Mostly his eyes, having gone through multiple entropian surgeries to fix his eyelids.
But!! Rex has always had awful breath and burps 🤢. Something that no vet has ever been able to explain.
💩He has even chewed and pooed out bits of blanket and no test has ever concluded that we had greater cause for concern….. until yesterday!

The vet quickly ruled out Pancreatitis and the Xray showed little to be too concerned about, but his symptoms were enough for us to make a split second, life changing decision (something our team behind the scenes is faced with too often)!

…….Open him up! 💔

🙏🏼 It was time to find out once and for all, and what we found was shocking!

Inside this precious boy was large chunks of basketball 🏀 , sitting in his tummy and starting to pass through his intestines 🫣
This ball has been in there since before he came into rescue 9 months ago. Evading many tests and trips to the vet!

😎 Rex has always been laid back, but this is proof of just how incredibly stoic a Bull Terrier can be!
It wasn’t until a piece of the ball perforated his intestine, that he rapidly declined 😭

The decision that we made to open him up there and then, potentially saved his little life!
Apparently the smell that came out was rancid 🥺🤢

So!! This boy before yesterday had already cost rescue over $7,000!
And now we have another $2,800 bill, plus any follow up care he will need.

We would greatly appreciate any donations towards Rex latest vet bill 🙏🏼

We will post an update in a few days as Rex heals, but today he is back on IV fluids at the vet

Introducing mini-bull 💞BRONTE💞

💖 This 2yr old pocket rocket, whilst small in size at just 18kg, has a HUGE amount of love to give!

🫣 Bronte currently lives with another dog and cat, and unfortunately she does not get along with either of them (much as her family have tried 🥺), so sadly she finds herself needing a new place to call home 🙏🏼

Whilst Bronte isn’t fond of other furry creatures, she has so much love to give her people 👩🏽‍🤝‍👨🏼🐶
She is used to being around her humans all day, so will not be suited to a home where she is left alone for long periods.

⚽️ Bronte loves toys and play time!
A large backyard where she can run around would be ideal.

She has recently completed a “board and train” program and would benefit from ongoing training sessions as she responds very well to this type of direction.
A clever girl who can sit and wait for her food, and likes the security of her crate at night time 🥰

Please join us in celebrating our latest foster fail 💞TESS💞

This sweet little pocket rocket came into our care earlier in the year.
A 10hr + round trip from country VIC, to the beautiful green hills and loving arms of her new foster carers Jeanette and David 🤗

🥺 It was very apparent that Tess needed a lot of medical attention!
In particular her teeth, requiring a HUGE dental procedure!
1️⃣2️⃣ extractions; 🦷teeth with the roots exposed; ⚡️a molar cracked in half; 🫣 doubled up teeth one behind the other. And most of this was down one side of her mouth!
No wonder she was hesitant to eat 🥺

With a fresh mouth, Tess was instantly a much happier girl 💞, bounding around and ready to explore and settle in to her beautiful new forever home 🌳🥰🐾

📝 Here are some words from Jeanette:
Tess arrived at our house after a long drive from Swan Hill.
It was obvious she wasn’t house trained or been inside.
She had a few issues with her mouth and didn’t want to eat, panting constantly and could climb any height!
She didn’t play and couldn’t be on a lead.

With the advice of Margy and Dianne, they helped me navigate these issues.
A few trips to the vet, the removal of 12 teeth and the desex.

Our special Tess is now thriving!
She loves her bath, she loves her food and loves sitting on the couch watching tv.
No more panting, Tess plays, cuddles and is getting more cheeky each day!
She doesn’t run away and responds to her name when she is called.
She has fenced acreage to explore which she loves.
She still waits to go out side to bed at night to her custom built kennel which is lined and cosy.
Tess is the most special gift and we thank everyone at VBTR for letting us adopt her.
We love her so so much!

Sweet girl 💞Ivy is still looking for her forever home!

Ivy is a 5yo beautiful bully girl who loves getting out and about and saying hello to every human she meets! 🥰

🦋🐕 A social butterfly who loves adventure, Ivy gets excited to meet new people and doggy friends, however can by shy with bigger dogs.
�Whilst she is dog friendly, Ivy does require a new family that doesn't have any pets, as she used to live with another dog for many years but recently they started to fight 🥺

🎾🧸 Ivy’s 2 favourite things are to play toys and snuggle with her current foster mum.

We believe she would be suited to a big family as she has so much love to share. The more the merrier 😃
