How many lives will you positively impact before you leave this world?

Years ago, I would repeatedly make this dua from the bottom of my heart:

“O Allah, make me a beaming Noor (light) that guides the whole world closer to You"

One day, our time will run out. That's it. No going back. But every life you positively touch, every person you bring closer to Allah, and every seed of goodness you plant will become a light for you on the Day of Judgement - the Day of complete Darkness.

Imagine standing amongst all of mankind on the Day of Judgement, unique - you are glowing with a powerful radiant light from the good impact you had on every person you ever met.

Some of us are too consumed by the matters of this world and pay little attention to the next life despite it being forever - yes literally for eternity

The wise Muslim therefore knows that every single second matters and counts. Not a second wasted, always striving to spread goodness and build for the Akhira.

Many reminders..when will we wake up?

❗️This Dunya is only 60-70 years on average. The shortest of all 4 stages of life.
How foolish would we be to chase it while negleting preparing for the Akhira which has no end!

How many lives will you positively impact before you leave this world?

Years ago, I would repeatedly make this dua from the bottom of my heart:

لَا أُقْسِمُ بِيَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ
“I swear by the Day of Resurrection.”

وَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالنَّفْسِ اللَّوَّامَةِ
“And I swear by the self-reproaching soul.”

أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنسَانُ أَلَّن نَّجْمَعَ عِظَامَهُ
“Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?”

بَلَىٰ قَادِرِينَ عَلَىٰ أَن نُّسَوِّيَ بَنَانَهُ
“Yes indeed! We are able even to perfectly restore his fingertips.”

بَلْ يُرِيدُ الْإِنسَانُ لِيَفْجُرَ أَمَامَهُ
“But man desires to continue sinning in what lies ahead of him.”

يَسْأَلُ أَيَّانَ يَوْمُ الْقِيَامَةِ
“He asks, ‘When will this Day of Resurrection be?’”

فَإِذَا بَرِقَ الْبَصَرُ
“But when the sight is stunned in terror,”

وَخَسَفَ الْقَمَرُ
“And the moon is eclipsed,”

وَجُمِعَ الشَّمْسُ وَالْقَمَرُ
“And the sun and the moon are brought together,”

يَقُولُ الْإِنسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ أَيْنَ الْمَفَرُّ
“On that Day, man will cry, ‘Where is the escape?’”

كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ
“No! There will be no refuge.”

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمُسْتَقَرُّ
“On that Day, the final destination is to your Lord.”

يُنَبَّأُ الْإِنسَانُ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ
“On that Day, man will be informed of what he sent ahead and what he left behind.”

بَلِ الْإِنسَانُ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِهِ بَصِيرَةٌ
“Rather, man will be a witness against himself,”

وَلَوْ أَلْقَىٰ مَعَاذِيرَهُ
“Even if he presents his excuses.”

Every word in the Quran means something. Every word was chosen for a reason by Allah. 📖

Allah does not use words carelessly. Sometimes an entire sign can be hidden within a single word. Even a single intonation (Harakah)

This is why studying the language of the Quran is so powerful. You begin to realise that every word matters. Every expression matters. Every choice of vocabulary invites deep meaning and changes the way we look at the world!

The Quran is not a book to simply read quickly and move on.

Stop at its words. Ask why this word? Why this description? Why here?

Because sometimes an entire mountain of meaning is contained within one word. And that is true Taddaabur! True understanding of the Quran!

📖I used to read the Quran descriptions of Jannah - its rivers 🌊, trees 🌳, fruits 🍇, meat 🍖 and spouses 🥰 - and think, “What’s so special? We already have these things in this world.” 🌎 "I don't really fancy a banana right now to be honest" I would foolishly think

Then I came across the beautiful statement of Ibn ’Abbas (رضي الله عنه): “There is nothing in this dunya that resembles Jannah except the names.”

Everything changed❗️

🫀The fruits of Jannah are not like the fruits of this world. Its rivers are not like our rivers. Its water, meat, homes and spouses are beyond comparison. Allah only mentions things with familiar names so that we have some point of reference, because our minds simply cannot comprehend what Jannah is truly like

🌈 Think of it this way: if someone had been colourblind their entire life and only saw in black and white, could you ever truly describe a rainbow to them? No. They might understand the concept of colour, but they could never experience or imagine its reality until they actually saw it.

Jannah is like that except infinitely more so

That’s why Allah says in the hadith qudsi that He has prepared for His righteous servants what "no eye has ever seen, no ear has ever heard, and no human heart has ever imagined"

So don’t trade the eternal Jannah for the temporary Dunya. Don’t let a haram pleasure of this dunya pull you away from Allahs rememberance when even the smallest delight in Jannah is beyond anything this world could ever offer.

As the Prophet ﷺ said:

“The space occupied by a whip in Jannah is better than this world and everything in it.”

Yeh, think about that

Every Muslim I knew booked their Umrah hotel through Booking.com

That never sat right with me.

Four years ago, I went for my first Umrah. Nervous, excited, and just wanting to do everything right for the sake of Allah.

Before I left, I asked everyone who'd been before - family, friends, people at the masjid - where to book my hotel.

Almost every single one gave the same answer: Booking.com.
