NEWS: Limpopo Traffic Police have launched a manhunt for the driver of a Scholar Transport who was found ferrying 22 pupils in a 7-seater minibus in Ladana, Polokwane.

"The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene upon noticing traffic officers" an official said.

BREAKING: The scholar transport driver in the Vanderbijlpark horror crash that killed 12 pupils has been arrested and has been discharged from hospital.

He is expected to appear in court soon to face 12 counts of culpable homicide, reckless and negligent driving.

JUST IN: President Cyril Ramaphosa has approved salary increase for public office-bearers.

Deputy President, cabinet, MPs, MECs, MPLs hiked by 3.8%

Judges, magistrates, traditional leaders and members of independent constitutional institutions hiked by 4.1%

Effective from 1 April 2026

The increase was recommended by the Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office-Bearers.

According to EWN, this puts the annual salary of Deputy President Paul Mashatile at R3.2 million, that of ministers at R2.7 million, while deputy ministers are to earn R2.2 million.

The president’s salary is not included in this schedule, since his salary is approved by Parliament.

JUST IN: A patient has died in a fire that broke out at the George Mukhari Hospital, in Pretoria. The woman (35) was admitted at the psychiatric unit and was kept in isolation as part of her treatment. Cause of the fire is unknown. Scores of patients evacuated, an official said.
