The Community of Atteridgeville gathered today for a peaceful march that included a Candle lighting ceremony. This as members stood in solidarity against Gender Based Violence and Femicide. As the 16 days of activism reaches its conclusion today, community members held the peaceful protest under the theme "Real Men Protect Women and Children”.
This comes after a several atrocious incidents that have been taking place in Atteridgeville, leaving most residents in shock and families losing their loved ones at the hands of their perpetrators.
Residents were joined by Community Policing Forum and CPF Sector 1.
Lili Mashaba, leader of Gender Based Violence in Atteridgeville said that the community must stand together to protect their families and report those who are behind GBV.
Mmaphalantwa Mathipe from Sector 1 CPF said that it is very important to gather together as the community and stick together against GBV so that they protect those who can't speak for themselves and they must respect their families.
